Re: Olympic hockey thread

Saw a picture of five of the US players with Karoline Leavitt and someone else, Tage Thompson was wearing a MAGA hat

I'm really beginning to miss when NHL players refused to talk about anything other than hockey cliches

Schaefer and Celebrini seem like “they’d only be traded for each other and there’s no point to doing that”

Re: Olympic hockey thread

I got to watch the final game with my parents (late 70s) and son (now 18!) and it kinda felt like it could be the last time we get to experience something like that together. I can't even be mad about the outcome. All time classic game in my opinion, right up there. I remember taking the 2009 Stanl...

US Men’s Team is attending the State of the Union

:babcock:

At least I have zero intention of subjecting myself to it. I’m trying to think of it as “We just played for our country and now we get to be honored by it” but it’s clear these assholes are psyched for Trump.

Re: Olympic hockey thread

I can’t imagine that many of the US players had a good game in terms of xG, given how much Canada caved them in for two periods. I don’t think Quinn Hughes, Faber, McAvoy, Werenski, or Sanderson looked back out there at all.

I wonder how hard it was for guys like Suzuki and Horvat to get their rhythm playing 10-11 minutes

Re: It’s the Number One Buttz Shooter

And, you know, I guess I could go to blue sky but I feel that it's less the platform than the medium? Just the absolute worst way to communicate. My oldest came upstairs just before this while I posting about the olympics (she's home sick from school) and asked what I was doing and I told her I was...

Re: Olympic hockey thread

As players roared when the president shouted out Connor Hellebuyck for his masterpiece in earning the United States its third men’s hockey gold medal, Hellebuyck yelled, “How you doing, Don?”

Re: Olympic hockey thread

Marner was better in the earlier games in my opinion. Forgot about Jarvis, he looked pretty good yesterday. I didn’t think they got much down the middle past McDavid — needed to have MacKinnon drive his own line.

Re: Olympic hockey thread

My takeaways: 1. US PK was huge. Larkin winning the draw on the 5 on 3, all the hard work from Trocheck and Miller. I basically assumed Canada would score at least one on that but they didn’t really get any A+ chances. 2. I felt like the middle six for Canada didn’t show up that much, which is proba...

Re: Olympic hockey thread

I do think there’s a difference between being actively MAGA and just not political enough to be against the head of the FBI being in the room (or Trump calling, for that matter). My guy is that for most of those dudes it’s just “Wow this guy is here and I got introduced to him and also just won gold...
