it occurs to me that some appreciable amount of my negative feelings towards larkin are/were because of the goatee

i don't think it's just the team being way worse, or me just being old, to think that larkin falls waaaaay short of anybody else in my memory as captain and/or as nominal Best Red Wing

that's an extremely high bar but i never really liked him that much for whatever reason
