Prospects aren’t Nikishin / Morrow / Nadeau, first is conditional

Koivunen is a former second, Ponomarev is a former second, Lucius is a former fourth rounder. #6, 7, and 9 on Wheeler's list (beat out by a few diminutive forwards, as usual).
I suspect that Bunting is a big part of the trade, that Dubas believes he can fit with Crosby. The PNES system lacks depth and this trade certainly gives them some, but it's hard to say any piece is particularly significant. If Carolina does not make Stanley Cup Final, Penguins get Philadelphia’s second instead of the first
Carolina needs to win the Cup for Pittsburgh to get that 5th

obviously anyone's guess whether any of these Russian prospects traded for Hanifin or Guentzl are any good but it sure seems like the price for a good player is not all that much more than the price for a bad/depth/1 dimensional player?

Kinda agree the prices are very weird and not great if you're a fan of a seller team (oh no, it's me)

Even if Washington retains 50%, Kuznetsov still has another year. They’d have to retain and take back a bad contract (Deangelo?)

Even at 50% retained, that seems like a very un-Canes-like move

Toffoli going to the Jerts?
Re: The Official 2023-2024 NHL Season Thread: Now with fewer posts
I think I like that, seems like he was the best forward available and should be a good fit on the second line (especially if Vilardi's out for a while).

Agreeing with Sutterfam, seems to be a total buyer's market at this point.
