It's weird that I read dumb stuff on the internet but stop myself short of reading incredibly dumb stuff on the internet, like Breitbart or the HFBoards Political Subforum (RIP)

Expecting Canucks fans to forget their suffering is like expecting African Americans or First Nations Canadians to forget what they’ve been through and not be angry about it and act like they never suffered. It’s total ignorance.

This is how you get around the HF prohibition on political discussion, by relating everything back to how you feel about something to do with hockey.

(Surprisingly, a few pages later, a very level-headed and even take on watching hockey by an HFPoster:

Quote:
I was a pessimist prior to last year and after the massive turnaround and maturation of some of our prospects i decided not to criticize every misstep made by team or organization on a game by game basis.

More fun to just watch and enjoy

Laine took his first day off from Fortnite in 5 months on Nov 18th. Since then he has 11 goals in 4 games

Coincidence? Maybe.

I have been keeping a record of Laine's stats in Fortnite and will be looking for any correlations on whether it affects his NHL game.

While it's still too early to draw any conclusions (maybe by game 41), here is one more interesting note:

On Friday Nov 23rd after the Jets lost Laine was visibly upset. He even tried to break his stick on the boards several times without success.

Why was he so upset you ask? Well earlier that day Laine experienced the worst statistical performance of Fortnite since I started recording 5 months ago. He had a paltry 1.4 kd while his average in season 6 is 3.06, a 54% reduction in productivity.

Coincidence? I think not.

Djoos should be untouchable, he's like a 3rd pairing Lidstrom

really like the data driven analysis here on the Matthews contract

Quote:
I think this contract, because of it's nature and overpayment is going to be a team rocker. I think it's going to be really nasty and by that worse than Nylander and his 11% overpay. We're talking about probably something like a 20% overpay on this thing. It's insane.

With Matthews signing a scant 5 year deal I think JT should be the Captain. JT is more captain material than Matthews anyway. The lack of commitment by Matthews to Toronto seals the deal for me. A seven or 8 year deal by Matthews was going to make me overlook JT's superior leadership qualities.

I briefly looked at the Matthews contract thread in the trade forum. Takeaways:

1. One person said that Malkin was much, much better than McDavid was when McDavid signed his second contract, which is weird because McDavid was the best player in the league when he did that.
2. Another person said that if the Leaves win a Cup in years 1-3 of the Matthews deal, nobody will care about third contracts for any of the players. As someone who lives by a whole lot of Patriots fans, uh, that is not the way you'd respond to winning.

I know exactly what my team did, my team burned it to the ****ing ground, then put the fire out, then poured gasoline on the ground, then lit another match and made sure EVERYTHING was dead then they plamted new seeds that grew into Matthews Marner, Nylander Rielly Kapanen, Johnsson etc

But first they burned EVERYTHING

Rielly and Nylander are both pre-burn it to the ****ing ground Leafs, they were still trying to make the playoffs, Nonis traded their 2nd in the Nylander draft for Peter Holland.

so Rielly might have called the ref a slur, I kind of agree with this JFK-level forensic breakdown of it https://twitter.com/TheFlintor/status/1105332839283736576 and also hope I am not being a jerk to think that he wouldn't have called the ref a f*****

meanwhile anyway HF Leafs is on mod lockdown and some pretty formidable former athletes are standing up for freedom of speech online, on-air, on-ice, on everywhere

People in my men's league use that particular slur like it's oxygen they're breathing but I've never not recoiled at hearing it.

I'm surprised you didn't find a "How come black people can call each other the n-word but I can't???" complaint.
