This is honestly the worst Red Wings-related proposal I've ever seen

Quote:
A Bhawk / Det trade idea.

This trade for Det to continue help with the Salary Cap going into the off-season while at the same time helping in putting prospects in the overall Det org.

to Det

Connor Murphy - RHD, Gustav Forsling – LHD, Brendan Perlini – Winger, Dylan

Sikura – Center, Victor Ejdsell – Center,

to Bhawks

Mike Green – RHD, Anthony Mantha – RW, Filip Zadina – LW, 2019 1st rou pick –

top 5 protected if not then 2020 1st rounder no protection, Plus 2019 3rd rounder.

well i guess it is a one sided idea favoring the Bhawks, but i was thinking of salary dump per se for det.

Usually when you dump salary it isn't the players who are worth that salary.

Really enjoyed this one, the punchline comes midway through and I had to read it a couple times to make sure

Quote:
Cap is important, it = flexibility w/roster mgmt.
Shattenkirk is finally recovering from injury, should not have been rushed back. He took less to come here, both term + $. If he regresses, he may retire and take consulting gig w/team. Similar for longtime Ranger Marc Staal, whose $ is cheap to buyout next year, but if he legit is pushing the end, may help us by hanging up skates, and also taking a post career gig.

However, Brendan Smith, while playing better of late, can only be relied on for toughness, otherwise he is a 3rd pair / 7th lefty who can play RD, is not the same cut. We should not have listened to the win now crowd and traded a 2nd and 3rd for him, let alone extended him. I’d like to see if he can move him, if I can live with the price.

Zuc is in high demand; a 1st +, more if retained.
Vegas is interested, and Reilly Smith, Brendan’s brother, has an ‘A’ and that is a reasonable basis to expect Brendan will play fully motivated the last balance of his term.

My offer:
to Vegas, Zuc at half = 2.25 expiring, and Brendan Smith, full pop 4.35 x 3, total 5.6
and no 1st required
instead
the three 2019 3rds LV has, AND the three 2020 2nd it also has
plus
Lindberg 1.7 expiring + Pirri .650 expiring + Carpenter .650 expiring + Carr .750 expiring, total = 3.75
Cap dif is 1.85 which LV eats as part of the deal

Rangers take a hit on the late 1st + they would otherwise get, but the six lesser picks could help GMJG catch up on depth, plus the cap relief, and addition by subtraction, moving Smith

Golden Knights may get something out of Brendan, but obviously, the prize is Zuc at half and no high pick or prospect. Thoughts?

I don’t know if this is bad but reading this aloud would be a great way to get my kids to sleep

Quote:
Draft Deal so the Oilers would NOT pay Lucic Bonus

Edmonton:
13th Overall Pick 2019 (via Florida)
2019 2nd round pick 54th (via Florida original Pitt)

Florida:
19th overall Pick 2019 (via Ottawa orignial Columbus)
2019 2nd round pick 32nd (via Ottawa)
2019 3rd round pick 85th pick (Ottawa via original Pitt)
2019 3rd round pick 89th pick (Edmonton)
Milan Lucic $3.0 Million AAV 4 years at ($9.5 million Owed at $3.0,$2.0,$2.5 & $2.0)
(*Verbal Agreement that Lucic waives NMC when expansion draft happens in 2 years)

Ottawa:
8th Overall Pick 2019 (via Edmonton)
2019 2nd round pick 38th pick (Via Edmonton)
2019 3rd round pick 69th pick (Via Florida original Edmonton)
Roberto Luongo Contract $4.53 Million AAV 3 years ($3.075 mill Owed at $1.375,0.850 & 0.850)
James Riemer $3.4 Million AAV 2 years ($6.2 Million Owed $3.10 & $3.10)
Retention on Milan Lucic $3.0 Million AAV 4 years at ($9.5 mill Owed at $3.0,$2.0,$2.5 & $2.0)

There is a lot going on so all summarize it here

Edmonton
Lose Lucic
drop 5 spots in 1st round
drop 16 spots in 2nd round
trade 2019 3rd to Florida

Florida
Trade riemer and luongo
Aquire Lucic
acquire 2019 3rd round pick
drop 6 spots in 1st round
Jump 22 spots in 2nd Round
drop 16 spots 3rd

Ottawa
Jump 11 spots in 1st round
drop 6 spots in 2nd round
Jump 20 spots in 3rd round
Acuire Lucic retention , Luongo and Riemer

Why Edmonton does it

-get rid of Lucic plain and simple
-the way i see it is

8th for 13th + cap space for top 6 UFA forward in 2019 or 2020

Why Florida does it

-clear away goalies and cap to bring in Bobrovsky
-could use a veteran guy in the lineup and stand up for his teammates
-if Florida fans don't want Lucic, then retain $1.0-$1.5 million and flip him agian, I'm sure they'll be teams that could use him at a $1.5-$2.0 million AAV and knowing he'll waives his NMC for the expansion draft could be attractive

there are some General Managers that still have an old school mentality and wouldn't mind Lucic, so you never know especially at a lower cap hit

Why Ottawa do it-

-they give up no assets in this trade (just drop 6 spots in the 2nd)
-move up 11 spots in the first round which could be a really good boost to the team in the eyes of public relations and make up on the matt duchene trade
- I know Eugene Melnuk would prefer to take on high cap hit with low salary contacts but thats the price to move up in this deal

luongo contact that meets what he's looking for = perfect

James riemer is not the greatest but maybe the senators realize that attracting goaltenders on a rebuilding team will be hard also him being a verteran guy might help only there for 2 years= id assume 40/60 the fans wouldn't mind or hate it

the only part of the deal that for the Senators is a tough pill to swallow and is something that nobody would like is the Milan Lucic Retention but your jumping 11 spots in the draft

the contracts break down for the salary cap

$7.46 real money=$10.9 AAV for 2019/2020
$5.95 real money=$10.9 AAV for 2020/2021
$3.35 real money=$7.5 AAV for 2021/2022
$2.0 real money=$3.0 AAV for 2022/2023

so i ask you would you move up 11 spots in the draft if it means taking on $3.0 million AAV for 4 years?

From a Florida Panther stand point they might want another piece but always interested to hear what you guys have to say

thanks for reading!!!

From HF Blackhawks:

I was honestly thinking Veleno. So Zadina, Veleno and #6 pick for #3 pick. Not saying I would or would not do it for the record, just asking the masses.

Byram is better than Zadina, Veleno, and whoever goes 6th.

McDavid For CHI's #3

Look, Gretzky got traded so ANYBODY can be ...

Now, assume McDavid wants out of EDM and DEMANDS to go to Chicago.
What could the Blackhawks' offer to get him?
The #3 overall obviously.

What else?
Hawks' untouchables are Toews, Kane, DeBrincat & Strome.
Has to be a combination of current players, pipeline prospects, & OTHER draft picks.
(Next year's #1 is both obvious & mandatory of course.)

You're both clubs' GMs. Make each other an offer that works for both of you.

:nyquist:

Chicago moving up in the lottery was THE FUCKING WORST

In a thread about Malkin

What about Tatar + Danault?
Danault is like a poor man bergeron, does everything right and plays against the other teams best line. Great on faceoffs too.
Coming off a 53 pt season and should get some selke votes.

Tatar bounced back and had 25 goals and 58 pts.

They finished 2nd and 3rd in scoring on the habs.

They make a combined 7.8 M

Probably a joke but from the most recent 31 Thoughts comment section:

To Boston:

Malkin

To Pittsburgh:

Backes
5th round draft pick
6th round draft pick
7th round draft pick

Buckle up, gentlemen

NYR/PHI draft day trade

So my suggestion is that New York trades their 3rd round pick (#68 overall) to Philadelphia for their 3rd round pick (#72 overall) and 7th round pick (#201 overall, originally MTL).

Is the value fair? If not, who adds?

The rationale is that NYR downgrades their pick slightly to get another shot very late in the draft. Initially, I was thinking about 6th round pick instead of 7th round pick but moving up 4 spots in the 3rd round isn't worth that much in my eyes.

Montreal goes for the quick retool.

:habs
Leddy

:isles
Tatar
Evans

Why Habs do it? They get a good partner for one of Weber/Petry.
Why Isles do it? They get a very good LW and a good prospect in Evans.

:habs
Gostisbehere
2nd 2020

:flyers
Shaw
Byron
Mete

Why Habs do it? They get another good partner for one of Petry/Weber.
Why Flyers do it? They get a couple of good forwards and a good project in Mete.

:habs
Meier RFA rights

:sharks
Suzuki
Armia RFA rights
15th overall pick 2019

Why Habs do it? They get a very good RW.
Why Sharks do it? They get a very good prospect, a good RW, 15th overall in a deep draft, and cap relief.

:habs
Future considerations

:sens
Alzner
2nd 2019 (MTL)
2nd 2019 (CBJ)

Why Habs do it? They get rid of a ****ing useless player.
Why Sens do it? They have the cap (in fact, they need to reach cap floor), and get mid-2nd round picks with it. Maybe Alzner could turn out useful for them.

Habs then proceed to sign UFAs Duchene + Boyle.

New line-up:
Domi - Duchene - Meier
Danault - Kotkaniemi - Gallagher
Drouin - Poehling - Weal
Boyle - Thompson - Lehkonen

Leddy - Weber
Gostisbehere - Petry
Kulak - Juulsen

Price

The best response to this was

Quote:
I wouldn't deal Suzuki alone for Meier.
Love Meier, he will hit 80p+ but I'm as high on Suzuki

Quote:
You are definitely high on just more than Suzuki.

To :hawks
C/W Andras Anthansiou (1 yr at 3M AAV , RFA after season)

To :wings
D Connor Murphy (3 yrs at 3.85M AAV)

Wings always seem to be looking for top 4 RHD and Hawks could use a top 6 RW or a C to slot with Saad on 3rd line

AA seems to be unsettled with regard to Wings lineup (Sometimes I see him as C on 2nd line or 3rd line RW on there board) and not sure of his future with franchise longterm

For Hawks it appears Bowman wants to keep Gus so that means Murphy is potentially a trade chip to improve roster with Jokiharju ready for NHL spot (Shouldn't be back in AHL at this point)

When CDH comes back Hawks will have too many defenders with Joker around and IMO sending him back to AHL wouldn't make sense. Gus can play RHD with Keith so CDH would slot into 3rd pairing next to Seabrook when healthy thus we end up with Murphy again expendable with Joker around playing with Maatta on 2nd pair

I think as a hockey trade this makes sense for both sides and what they are looking for
