I hit two of the longest drives I ever hit in my life on back to back holes yesterday. I was a sand wedge away on a 500 yard par 5 and I drove right next to a green side bunker on the next 380 yard par 4.

Played in a tournament at this track today:

https://silvertipresort.com/

"Shamble" style, so best drive, then own ball after, lowest 2 scores in a 4some count each hole. Had a DISASTROUS first 9, literally embarrassing golfing with my boss for the first time and 2 clients. Got it together on the 2nd 9 though and we used my drive 3 times out of 9, so pretty good. Also had a bird and 2 pars that got counted, so I helped our score a bit too (after ruining us on the first 9 lol).

My 4some was all pretty big hitters (one guy hated his driver and was SMASHING a 3 wood). One guy was hitting ~330 pretty consistently and on the 2nd 9 I had a few that were not far behind him, figure I cleared 300 twice.

My dudes, I'm busting out the sticks this afternoon for the first time since November or December or several months ago. I will more than likely play like shit but I don't care. Ski season ended last weekend for me so now it's full-on golf season.

Yeah make with the deets.

I just got a pretty substantial raise, and I'm definitely nearing the point of needing new clubs...

Hmmm. Confusion abounds. I bought PXG Gen 2 0311 Ts. They’re still on their way to me but I just got my first hole in one with a 10 year old set of Mizunos. 187 yards uphill. 6 iron. Never saw it go in.

I tried them out on a grass driving range with a pro club fitter on a trackman. Dude set me up with x-stiff shafts and a 1 degree flat loft angle. I hit them straight as hell

Thanks also about the ace. I was there when user captain got one and I had never gotten an eagle before. Good way to kill two birds with one stone.

Congrats on the ace!

My pop got his first in April, age 72. Got his 2nd on the same hole 2 months to the day later. I told him I'm spreading his ashes at that hole now. He's famous around the clubhouse now.

You a righty? You can send those Mizunos on up here (or the PXGs if you decide to keep the lucky ones...)

2PEENZ, if I didn't already have plans for them, I'd totally box them up and send them to you. They're beautiful clubs and I sort of can't believe I'm going to replace them, but my ulterior motive is to have two working sets of clubs, one for my house and one for the wife's (I'm not technically married but spending about 50% of my time with a ladyfriend about 40 miles away from my place.) To achieve this, I bought three Vokey SM7 wedges the other day. I now will have doubles of everything:

Drivers: Newer TaylorMade M3 / Older Titleist 910D3
3-Wood: Newer TaylorMade M2 / Older Titleist 913F
3-PW: Newer PXG 0311T Gen 2 / Older Mizuno MP68
Wedges: Newer Vokey SM7 50/54/60 / Older Mizuno TP 52 / Vokey 56 / Callaway 64 (!)
Putter: Newer but not really Ping Zing 2 / Older Scotty Cameron Newport

Even have older golf shoes...need a bag though.

I love the MP68s but have had them for ten years and I guess I just felt like I needed a change. I've been playing blades my whole life and I'm imagining in ten years when I switch again I might have to face the reality that cavity backs may be the way to go then.

Also that's awesome on your dad's hole in one streak (2 is def a streak!) The thing that made mine extra special was that I had never even gotten an eagle, although I've been on par-5s in 2 plenty and have always missed the putts. I missed another one at some point late last fall and texted my dad and he said "that's alright...I want to be there when you get it." And yep, pops was there Tuesday night. He was the one who suggested it was in the hole because I was looking all around the green for it.

My dad got one sometime before I was born and my mom got one when I was like 8 years old.

I've come close a bit...there's a sister course to the club my parents belong to (Pradera...I won't be going there anymore because the dual membership got to be too expensive) and I've nearly aced their 15th hole three times (came within a foot)...I was about six inches away on a place called Arrowhead southwest of Denver. I flushed a shot in from 120 yards out a few years ago on a par-4, but that was for par on account of my tee shot going in the water and me having to lay up with my third.

So yeah, I'm pumped about it still! 187 yards uphill is a pretty beefy par-3 if I don't mind saying so myself!
