Yeh sorry folks I'm ere.
Closest I've ever been to one of these things though, we were right across the bridge in Bermondsey. I'm dreading the report with pictures of victims more than ever expecting to see someone we saw on the street or whatever walking in the other direction

Friday night a kid got stabbed to death like next door to the gallery my wife works at sometimes where you can get like ice lattes and stuff, 17 years old walking home at midnight or whatever. A black kid no doubt.

Last night the bus we took back to our area, opposite direction to London bridge, had a pretty loud group of local teenage girls, this was before the shit had started, and one was on the phone saying like "you can't take that bus the road is closed" and then later "it's a crime scene."clearly familiar with what had happened at least if not with the victim.

Anyway you could tell this group of other "posher" women on the bus were laughing about these louder teens and they kept looking back. And when the teens got off one gave this other group the most ice cold stare. And even at the time it was this really sort of uncomfortable reminder of the inequality you just live through and often don't question or recall. But it feels so much weirder to think about it now.

Doesn't really relate to the terror shit I guess except like kids are dying of knife crime weekly here this year, on top of the mass murders. And a million different session IPAs available at some bottle shop within a half mile of every crime scene.

Anyway gonna do phone banking for labour tomorrow instead of attending some vigil.

"muslims are trying to kill us and rape our women and ban christmas" isn't fringe opinion in Britain at least in my opinion, or at least no more fringe than say pedestrian/cyclist activism. it's what football lads mostly think and people's dads like this fucking asshole https://twitter.com/DVATW

that guy obviously is a professional grievance profiteer so the real terror for me comes from the twitter timelines that are like 1. prisonplanet RT 2. Tommy Robinson RT 3. Tommy Robinson RT 4. come on you spurs 4. shit refereeing ruined the game 5. some "part and parcel" meme 6. Voice of Europe RT 7. looking forward to taking my 5 year old to bouncy castle kingdom on saturday for his birthday

I'm pretty sure the GOP Tax Scam is going to pass and I'm real bummed about it.

Yesterday the coffee shop across from the post office (had to mail a record with my kids in tow, which means I buy them some donut holes) had CNN on and Trump was giving an obnoxiously smug speech about the tax plan and how they'd done so much winning, just like he said he would, and how the tax plan would help corporations but really all workers and I just got so fucking angry sitting there.

Yeah, I've been planning on moving back to the States when I'm done school next year for a long time and this shit is really making me rethink it. Like I'll probably want to do an MBA or some masters down the road and this tax bill is gonna screw grad students. I think if I find a job with health insurance my life wouldn't be too affected by Trump but it really just seems like they're dead set on ruining the country (more than they already have).

But I'm sure a winter blast is only a couple weeks away, then I'll be in Phoenix for XMas and I'll decide Trump is worth never scraping my car off ever again for the rest of my life.

Yeah the grad student part of that bill is so fucking insane to me, like they made a list of who their true enemies were and figured out ways to fuck all of them, and somehow grad students were near the top

And like Trump's immigration shit wasn't going to cause enough of a brain drain, now you'd have to be crazy (or crazy rich) to consider grad school in the US.

We want the best and brightest white people from Alabama!

Well I've got a horrible sequel to the puppy story I told a couple weeks ago. Fair warning to not read again. I'll delete the bad part in a bit after we express our anger at humanity.

My company owns 1 apartment building in addition to our commercial portfolio. It's a shitty building in a cool part of town, close to downtown, and it's got like rock bottom rent. It's really just a site the owners own waiting for a developer to offer them enough to build some condos on. Anyways, we got some tenants referred to us from the YMCA last year, a young couple. They did OK for a while, but stopped paying rent 4-5 months ago, racked up like $4K in arrears, So we posted an eviction notice a month ago, it got taken down but we thought they stayed. Put up another notice a few days ago, this time with the intention of actually booting them.

So this morning one of our maintenance people enters the unit to see if they've gone or not. Sure enough they are long gone. This is where you may want to stop reading.

They left their cat behind in the apartment with no food or water and it starved to death.

So we reported them to the Humane Society, they're going to investigate. Cool society we live in.

as a person that lives with internet addiction I roll in all sorts of shit when something like this happens most of it a result of seeking out the most offensive opinions registered elsewhere on the internet but an early thought of my own when it's a van attack is like anticipating the 'should we ban vans too then?' internet snark and saying usually only to myself or my 8 non-bot twitter followers, yes we should absolutely ban vans.
