Apparently Torts wanted to challenge it, less than a minute so they can’t (it already went to NY where it was ruled a goal)

Re: 2021 Detroit Red Wings Thread of Acceptance
First period was the best the Wings have played this season, most of the second and most of the third was more reminiscent of last year (breakdowns in coverage, breakaways for the Beej, poor offensive execution). Wings looked a bit better near the end. The thing with the Beej is that they don't really have breakdowns and feed off of other teams' mistakes, so if you're a team that makes mistakes (ahem), eventually they're going to cost you.
The BLM line (I strongly suspect Lil Tuzz would not be on board with that) was generally better today, still not executing as crisply as before but Mantha in particular took a big step in the right direction.
Rasmussen only played 12:58, thought he played pretty well as a center. One of the Beej goals came after he blocked a shot and the puck came loose, not much he can do about that. Zadina didn't get any points but had some flashes. Ryan scored a new Ryan goal, took a bad penalty, received a crosscheck that led to the second goal (which has now been credited to him).
Prasanth Iyer thought the third line played well last game so I don't know if I'm completely wrong on this, but Filp didn't look particularly good, Namestikov clearly has skill but hasn't finished, and Gagner mostly calms things down.
The fourth line wasn't as impactful without Erne, to be honest. Glendening still crushed it on draws (13-2), Brome is a better skater than the comparable guys, but they're not tipping the game.
Hronek played 26 minutes. I don't know if he can keep that up all season but he's the only Wing d-man who makes any impact offensively. They could really use Djoos or Cholowski in the lineup to lighten his PP load. DDK is still not up to game speed, played under 14 minutes. Wouldn't hurt to give him some nights off. Staal had a couple of positive moments, but him making an early change led to the DuBois goal and he absolutely should have scored late in the game. Merrill remains pretty solid, although his PP usage is iffy. Stetcher was generally solid but couldn't bug DuBois enough on the backcheck to stop that goal. Nemeth was generally fine.
Greiss is now 0-2 and it seems silly to blame him for either loss.

It appears Jeff Blashill has turned on the line blender
I agree that Gagner / Filp / Nielsen is the fourth line. Curious how long having Larkin / Mantha / Bertuzzi spreads out lasts.

I don’t know if these lines will last but the Tuzz / Glendening / Brome line is enjoyable to watch, lotta hard work out there

Re: 2021 Detroit Red Wings Thread of Acceptance
There was one shift where the Filp/Frans/Sam line was out with Staal and Stetcher and the Beej had it hemmed in the offensive zone for a while. Staal completely botched one attempt to move it out. I knew Stetcher would be the one who'd have to clear the zone and that's what happened.
I think the line blender is off but it could be that the lines got messed up for a bit due to special teams. Rasmussen looks real solid out there both offensively (he's very good controlling the puck along the boards) and defensively. At the very least he should play above Erne and Nielsen.
The PP actually scored (off a weird bounce from Lil Tuzz's skate to a wide-open Mantha) but looked considerably better before they did. More moving the puck around down low, less back and forth up top.
