Huberdeau sells a slashing call, but they’re gonna call that one Merrill

Merrill comes out, immediately clears it over the glass, then Vatrano scores on the next PP

Going to OT

Let’s see if the Wings do their standard move of blowing an offensive opportunity and getting scored on a 2 on 1 the other way

Kind of amazed by the difference in the Wings' home record (9-8-3) and road record (3-12-3). It's not like there are packed houses in these other places!

Hard to tell how many teams will be worse than the Wings when the season is over. Right now it's Buffalo, Ottawa, and Anaheim, Buffalo by a lot, the other two basically tied (each is one point worse than the Wings with a game in hand). Buffalo seems like a foregone conclusion, unless Eichel comes back fully healed and tears it up. I don't think he's going to come back this season TBH.

I'm torn on whether Ottawa will be energized by some of the call-ups or if they'll struggle more down the stretch. The Ducks have five games against the Kings and three against the Sharks remaining on the schedule, they'll win some of those. The Wings will ship out a couple of vets but the only one that I think would dramatically hurt their chances down the stretch is Bernier (and he's out now anyway).

Ideally the Wings are the second-worst team and draft no later than fifth (I assume two teams will jump them in the lottery and also Seattle), but with their luck they'll probably go on a late run and end up with the 7th pick.

Beniers / Power / Hughes / Johnson / Eklund -- I'm not even sure about Johnson and Eklund, to be honest. Seems like another round of the Cole Perfetti "Is he really a center or will he be a wing?" debate. After those guys you'd have to seriously consider Wallstedt.

Svech is on waivers again

I don’t think he’s been particularly impactful and I don’t know what the Wings will do with him in the off-season but I don’t want to see him go

Svech cleared waivers

Some Wings fans were really upset that he was on waivers again because he's had 5 points in 10 games but he's been maybe the 10th best forward in the lineup at any time

Erne got the Wings on the board early in the third, second was v. boring

Coleman straight-up slugged Larkin in a post-whistle scrum, no call

Staal actually made a nice move to avoid a forechecker on a retrieval and then immediately passed it to a different BLOT
