I’ve been in Calgary for a few days now; leaving shortly. Stampede is certainly something, hah.

Ah you should've dropped a line!

Did you do anything Stampede-y or just take in the aura (an ever-present smell of horse shit and Bud Light)?

highlights from the week before the wedding: after convincing me not to have a lowkey backyard wedding, my mom telling me you should have had a lowkey backyard wedding; my mom calling me to complain about the cost of everything even though most of it's below average, and then not letting me pay for it in exchange for frequent guilt trips; calling my dad to tell him we are going to order a clamp from amazon to attach an ipad to his tripod for a photobooth, and him relentlessly arguing "no, no, no" and that "he could do it easily himself" and then letting us know when it's too late to order the cheapo amazon thing that he couldn't do it; my fiance's boss threatening to sue her if she doesn't come back to work the day after our wedding (very long and horrible story); telling my barber I'm getting married this weekend, and him in response giving me the most bizarre, barely cutting anything haircut he's ever given me; wedding nightmares every night

oh well, i bought some cool shoes yesterday that go with my suit

Forecast is 35 for Thursday and 37 for Friday in Calgary, looks like 37 would be an all time high record if it happens.

Trying to sleep that night will be a joy.

User practice who do you actively follow? Anyone in particular or do you just like low-stakes wagering and drinking during games because that seems like it's more fun.

I just watch whatever matches are on when I got nothing else to do. But cheer for my fantasy team and my £1 bets to score and Everton to win cuz my adopted family.

Not for the audition. You pick the city it's easiest to get to when you take the test, LA had the cheapest flights.

Thinking pretty hard about making it work - Trebek is retiring in 2020 so this is one of the last groups of contestants that will get him.

Yeah man I bottled it on an easy question 11 yesterday. But yeah I only won once and it was for a teeny weeny prize that I got to share with 2,079 others.

"Ahead of the premiere of his Netflix series Norm Macdonald Has a Show, Macdonald recently sat down for an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, and it’s jam-packed with the comedian’s thoughts on hot-button issues like Louis C.K., Roseanne Barr, Chris Hardwick, Hannah Gadsby and Nanette, Michael Che and Nanette, Jimmy Fallon’s infamous Trump interview, and #MeToo. It’s quite a doozy, but probably the biggest thing Macdonald reveals is that after ABC canceled Roseanne, Macdonald convinced C.K. to give Barr a call.

“She was just so broken and crying constantly,” Macdonald said. “There are very few people that have gone through what they have, losing everything in a day. Of course, people will go, ‘What about the victims?’ But you know what? The victims didn’t have to go through that.”

Oh cool.

I saw on Twitter that he's a big Jordan Peterson fan.

I guess it could be worse, you could have been a big Edmund Spenser fan in the 1590s.

Last time I checked HQ was ios only and I completely divorced from Apple a few years back - if it's on android now I'd definitely be into it.

And yeah Norm's politics are disappointing. I was getting excited for this show, the trailer looked pretty funny.

I am not going to read the Norm interview but I will forever prefer people like him to people that write like another-PC-mob-victim op-eds for shitrags that Peterson types read and whilST I recognise that there is evidently an inexhaustible 'demand' on the supply-side for such content I am always a bit disheartened to see stuff like Norm's show getting cancelled because the stupidest fucking nerds in the world get to dine out on it until the next one, not that they wouldn't be writing about campus totalitarians etc anyway but the high profile stuff gets more exposure. OK I'm off to fill my water bottle hopefully I fall into a bottomless pit on the way

I'm pretty sure I'm with user practice on this one, even to the point that I just came back from filling up my water bottle and I was disappointed I didn't fall into a bottomless pit.

I'll admit I've never gotten that into Norm except for listening to a select few of his very long and very funny jokes a bunch of times, but my patience level for the kind of idiocy expressed in that interview is just gone
