What I got from the HPN thread was that moving is a lot tougher after you're ten or so. I never moved growing up, so I wouldn't know.

I think that's probably bang on from my experience. I moved a few times as a kid. Moving at 10 was piece of cake and a good experience. Moving at 12 was fucking awful.

We moved to Mtl when Jr. was about 2.5. There was still some anxiety, but it was mostly not a big deal and a big adventure. He changed schools here at age 7 and it was surprisingly pretty seamless. I think personality-wise, he's not the type to have 1 or 2 super close friends, but has a bigger group of friends and probably no one he would call his #1 BFF on any given day, so that probably helped a lot.

I always assumed I'd move back to Ottawa at some point. But now I guess we're likely staying put until he finishes at least high school?

i was looking for an old file in my gmail and came across a time capsule of saved gchats with CLers from 2012

me: i'm pretty sure rich is gonna kill me
me: i have been antagonizing that guy on the board for weeks now
me: i feel like rich has been overexposed to hfboards and other forms of media for his column and he needs to go back in the boothbooth for a while
me: i also think he's starting to believe that all my trolling is what i actually believe
maya: hahaha

I think I stalled out on that like 40% in. It was hit/miss story by story and there really wasn't any momentum being built.

Nothing is certain yet but Ann Arbor appears to be the frontrunner in the "Where is NA going to live in five or six months" sweepstakes. Boulder and Raleigh are still in the running.

I've never actually read a Stephen King book, but I kind of want to read Dreamcatcher because the movie is so fucking batshit

A Stephen King novel about the NYC Strand Bookstore would be pretty cool

Fuckin hit a tree skiing today, lost a pole, missed the turn to get back on the trail, wound up skiing on the highway next to the resort for a mile and a half.

After all that, the thing that hurts most is the hip that mysteriously started bothering me before I came up.

I’m old.

So we added to the fam last weekend. This is Holly. She's a year old, from Texas, and has been a Canadian for a month now.

helllllll yeah. i guess they'll probably still stink next season so cheap tix should still be abundant

i was quite bummed to learn that for the past year yzerman has been semi regularly attending games at compuware arena in plymouth, just 10 miles down the road from ann arbor, and the home of the US NTDP. I've never been to but have on several occasions this past year thought that I should go check out a game, ultimately choosing staying in on my fucking couch instead. LITTLE DID I KNOW. I doubt that he will be going out there for many now that he's a GM again but who knows! he said something about how he loves living in metro detroit because most nights you can go watch great hockey and still be in bed before midnight so maybe the games are good?

anyway welcome to town!!!

There are so many top prospects for this year’s draft on the NTDP. Wings aren’t going to get Jack Hughes but Yzerman must have opinions about Turcotte, Caulfield, and Zegras.

Broons games are like $90 for nosebleeds so I never go to them. I think I’ve been to maybe four games in fourteen years. Whenever I watch the Wings on the FSD feed they advertise family packs for two tickets / dogs / sodas for $69 and I would be all over that. Tigers games are also exponentially cheaper than Red Sox games, too. Depending on who’s playing there next season, I’m tempted to drive up to Grand Rapids for a game or two.
