One thing that mystifies me about the Mittelstadt trade is the notion that Peyton Krebs could handle 3C duties. Dude has 12 points in 60 games. He is not good.

God I can’t stand them. I know they just throw caution to the wind, outsmart other GMs and just are smart about taking advantage of the NHL and hope poorly it’s run but it’s still annoying.
I don't like Vegas but 1. I give them credit for making ballsy moves instead of just freeing up enough cap space for Ilya Lyubushkin 2. If the Finals are a rematch between them and the Panth, I'm rooting for them.

Yeah they are taking full advantage of the situations they have been afforded which a fan of any team would want.

God I hope the finals aren’t a rematch. I guess they’ve already won so who cares if they get another. Idk probably won’t watch much of it comes to that

I don’t know who that prospect is, not on Wheeler’s recent list

I would have done this! AHL defenseman and two picks for Hanifin at 25%

NHL just has too many boring trades. All picks that may be meaningless or players who will likely never pan out

Calgary fans are delusional
Isn't it funny how all the big name trades The Athletic says the seller did poorly? Maybe that's the market rate. Maybe they did well. In this case, Vegas gave up a first a third and a player. That's a lot for a rental when Eric says that only one team was being aggressive and the player limited the market. Calgary should get at least a B

This is why I can't take Dom L.'s stuff seriously
Essentially, Mittelstadt checks in with a projected Net Rating of plus-3.9 — but he might not be that good.

For Byram, it’s the opposite. His projection for next season is minus-0.2 and he’s below average this season — but he might not be that bad.

Idk I think Dom’s models are pretty good. Until they’re absolute trash.

I don’t think his models are terrible, but I’m tired of seeing him qualify them over and over in the same ways. He admits that the model struggles with regard to defensemen playing tough minutes on middling to bad teams (in the Parayko section) but that’s been an oversight for years. Too much of 16 Stats is “great players on great teams are great!” which isn’t breaking news.

Leaves acquire Joel Edmundson from the Caps, really doubling down on being the negative example this trade deadline

They didn't pay much but how many bottom-pair defensemen do the Leaves need?

I think he's too old for Wheeler's list at 26. He's put up good numbers in the AHL the past few seasons. I recall mulling him over at one point for a later round fantasy draft pick.
