The Devils signed Jonas Siegenthaler for 3.4 x 5, which confused the hell out of me because I thought he was a waivers-level D, but all the Devils fans on HF insist he is one of the top five defensive defensemen in the league. If some stat is telling them that, I don’t trust the stat.

I was watched the Wings play the Devils a few times last year and I don’t remember him at all.

I watched the Devils a decent amount of times and I remember him being pretty good but nothing really jumping out? Haven't really looked at any fancy stats though. Certainly doesn't seem like a terrible deal and he's only 25? At least not Gudbradson level but that's not much of a comparison.

It's mostly the term that concerns me. I remember when Jakub Kindl seemed promising and the Wings signed him for four years, then were stuck with him when he fell off instead of making the next step.
