Wings roster news for the interest of myself only

Rasmussen and Cholowski made the roster, which isn't a surprise given their camps / preseasons but heartening. Glad Cholocop's progressing well.

Christoffer Ehn made the team over Zadina, Witkowski (!), Turgeon, etc. I haven't seen him play much, if at all.

Curious who else makes the team -- whether it's Frk or Svech 1.0, Hicketts or Hronek or Sulak.

Jussi Jokinen was released from his PTO.

i'm interested! also haven't seen much of ehn and that's pretty surprising

Here's the way in which it makes sense to me. They value Zadina too much to rush him into the NHL, so starting him off in Grand Rapids is the smart / correct move. Svechnikov looked better in preseason than he did last year (which was a huge step back, in part because of injuries), but he tweaked something and I'm not sure about the timetable of it. So in terms of line construction without Zadina and without Zetterberg, you essentially have something like:

Bertuzzi / Larkin / Mantha
Nyquist / Nielsen / Rasmussen
Vanek / AA / Helm (having Helm or Abdelkader here to be the defensive conscience seems essential)
Frk or Ehn / Glendening / Abdelkader

Ehn is a fourth-line forward and can play center, which would allow Abdelkader to move up the lineup if they feel they need to do that (they shouldn't).

I don't know what separates him from Dominic Turgeon as a fourth-line defensive forward -- Ehn hasn't shown much offensively wherever he's been, but neither has Turgeon.

In the long run, I don't think it's a bad idea to groom a Luke Glendening replacement. I like Glendening and think he's good in that role (4th line center / PK specialist) but you can fill that role cheaper than Luke Glendening. He's the sort of guy that would be a logical deadline add for a contending team.

Goil dealing from a position of strength

The #Oilers have acquired a 2020 sixth round draft pick from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for defenceman Jakub Jerabek.

The @MapleLeafs announced today that the hockey club has reduced its roster to 23 players (13 forwards, eight defencemen and two goaltenders).

The following players have been placed on waivers: Connor Carrick, Curtis McElhinney and Calvin Pickard.

From an HF boards thread I read earlier

Braun could land Carrick one on one, and if so, no more than that! He is just an average defencemen, nothing special, while Kapanen is still a decent prospect.

I've learned that I can barely pay attention to one fantasy league. Doing any more than that is just asking for me to ignore them for weeks/months.

I do feel invested in the lost Wings season, no matter how weird it is to see them as a consensus bottom-three team. I don't disagree, it's just weird. I'm looking forward to watching Cholowski and Rasmussen and Larkin and Mantha and AA and Nyquist and Vanek and eventually Zadina and honestly that's enough.
