Re: Thee Official 2023 NHL Offseason Lounge
I've seen a lot of overvaluing from SNES fans. It's like... the market was established less than a year ago for him and then he had kind of a shitty year. I suppose if there's an extension in place then that ups the value but... Ottawa's probably better of just keeping him if he'll sign a sub 9 million long-term offer. He's worth like 7.5? 7? I seriously doubt they even recoup the value they trade for him if they do deal.Grand Moff Larkin wrote: ↑Sat May 13, 2023 5:51 pmI'm trying to think of a way for the Wings to acquire William Nylander and keep Edvinsson / Kasper / the 9th pick
In other news I really want to stop seeing proposals in which the Wings trade multiple firsts for Alex DeBrincat. He didn't get multiple firsts the last time and he's now he's due a huge contract

I strongly prefer the vibe of the Neko Sparks group. The rest seems like typical billionaire business dudes.

The Neko Sparks group with Snoop Dogg does seem to have good vibes for sure

andOTTAWA — Snoop Dogg has welcomed Canada's First Nations into his bid to buy the NHL's Ottawa Senators with open arms.
The rapper is part of a group spearheaded by Los Angeles-based businessman Neko Sparks trying to buy the NHL franchise. Snoop Dogg posted a video to Instagram on Monday where he alluded to reports that the Sparks-led bid would include an equity stake for local Indigenous communities.
"It's your boy big Snoop Dogg giving a shout out to the First Nations of Canada, that's right, for joining Neko Sparks in the Ottawa Senators bid," he said, standing in a recording studio wearing a Senators jersey. "We trying to do something, we trying to make a difference."
Snoop Dogg, a longtime hockey fan, has said he would use his stake in the Senators to help grow the sport in the United States, especially among Black children.
"I mean it's official like a referee with a whistle," said Snoop in Monday's video. "We all together we try to make it better. We just need y'all to hit the lever and give us control."

oh hey guys
Re: Thee Official 2023 NHL Offseason Lounge
if I were the oilers gm I would try to do something like the following:
-Move Yamamoto, Bourgault and picks for a RW who can score at ES, like Konecny
-Move Broberg, Campbell and picks for Hellebuyck
-Sign Gudas
-Sign Mayfield
-Re-sign Ryan
-Jettison Cody Ceci
RNH - McDavid - Hyman
Kane - Draisaitl - Konecny
Foegele - McLeod - Holloway
Kostin - Ryan - Lavoie
Ekholm - Bouchard
Nurse - Gudas
Kulak - Mayfield
Hellebuyck
Skinner

I would also be into a Yamamoto + Pick for Garland with salary retained sort of trade
Not sure why the Canucks want to move on from Garland but I would gladly take him

Is Hellebuyck a one year rental there? I dunno how they'll be able to afford to pay him whatever raise he'll be due. I suppose he really wants to win so maybe they can convince him to keep the number a bit lower?

Re: Thee Official 2023 NHL Offseason Lounge
I really don't know how they are going to be able to trade Campbell without massively compensating some team to take him on. Not sure Broberg + picks does it.
Re: Thee Official 2023 NHL Offseason Lounge
I think they have to find a way to move Campbell at the draft. Maybe it's not to Winnipeg, but he needs to go somewhere because they cannot roll the dice on goaltending in the last two years of Leon's contract. His buyout hit isn't horrible (about $1.5 a year) but you can't have that on the books for 8 more years.
If they're able to land him, I think they have to treat Helle as a one year rental and go all-in next season with the hope that he signs long term after that. They can move Skinner and bring in a cheaper backup should that happen.
If they are able to find a home for Campbell but can't make it work for Hellebuyck, I would be looking at a cheaper goalie to play with Skinner: Samsonov, Hill, Varlamov, or try to get Vejmelka out of Arizona.
Then, use that savings to sign Bouchard long term instead of bridging him, which would put added pressure on the 97/29 extensions.

I still can't believe Holland signed Ceci for 4 years. He's on the record saying he had no other offers, they probably could have had him on a one or two year deal for less cap hit.

Re: Thee Official 2023 NHL Offseason Lounge
I couldn't understand how Ceci was playing in the last couple of days, he was jumping up in the play like he was a forward almost every time.
Nurse was a disaster in defensive coverage in game six but he's very much on/off in that regard.

Re: Thee Official 2023 NHL Offseason Lounge
if the goil sign Gudas I will buy a Flames jersey (Kadri)
Re: Thee Official 2023 NHL Offseason Lounge
Nurse's only strength is his skating. He's decent at breaking up zone entries and skating for retrievals. He's also pretty good at rushing the puck up the ice, but he doesn't have many chances to do it given that he's usually on the ice at the same time as McDavid.Grand Moff Larkin wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 4:23 pmI couldn't understand how Ceci was playing in the last couple of days, he was jumping up in the play like he was a forward almost every time.

On the flip side, he's got such a bad defensive stick and even though he's huge, he's always out of position in front of the net, either on the weak side or with his back to whoever scores. Whenever a team starts cycling against the Nurse/Ceci pairing, it's almost always going to end in a high danger chance. He's also a surprisingly terrible passer, I am 100% confident that he leads the league in unforced icings over the last few years.
I think he could really thrive with an Ekholm-like partner, someone who plays a simple, reliable and smart defensive game, and Ceci ain't it.

Re: Thee Official 2023 NHL Offseason Lounge
I was surprised that the arena was privately funded but
I just don't think you can trust that ownership group with anything. They probably had requests in the deal for free labor and a printing press for $100 bills.Opponents of the deal said it would have given Meruelo more than $500 million in tax breaks and called out the team for unpaid bills while they played in Glendale.
