lolz Quinn Hughes on this (the second one, esp, where he just turns off into the corner when the play is still ongoing)

Among the dumbest things that Buccigross said last night during the ESPN+ broadcast of Beej Wings was "Patrick Kane has to be on Team USA for the Olympics." Look man he had three points and all, but he does almost nothing off the puck. When I went to Pizzarena Uno last time I found myself watching Kane when he didn't have the puck, and the degree to which he loafs on every forecheck and barely manages a bump on checks is comical.

Nothing like playing the JERTS for the GOIL to get their mojo back in the first five minutes of a game

From an Athletic article
Bettman called it “a ridiculous issue” during an interview on TNT in June, only allowing that it could be “a little bit of a factor if everything else were equal.”

Our survey of 120 NHL players says otherwise. Definitively. In a landslide, 86.3 percent of our respondents said state income taxes do matter.
It seems like they could just normalize the cap numbers based on how much the take-home is in a given city.

After winning two consecutive games (and three and a half out of four in December), the Wings are back in first place in the Atlantic. With a -7 goal differential. They've also played more games than everyone but Boston.

The SNES have lost four of five and are in seventh (tied for sixth) place. But they have two games in hand and could be one point back of the Wings with wins over the Devils and Beej, who are 7th and 8th in the Metro (but with more points than the SNES).

I'm happy the Wings got a shutout last night but it must be emphasized that David Kampf was the Canucks' #1 center.

I saw a trade return for Quinn Hughes to Detroit floated that was like:

Simon Edvinsson
Danielson or Kasper
Carter Bear
Two firsts

and I just don't think Edvinsson can be included in such a deal. ASP, sure.

The Karlito own goal to tie it with less than a second left is about as tragically comic as it gets

SNES haven't scored an even strength goal in 3+ games.

Wings back in first in the Atlantic and two points back of the top spot in the conference, but also only four points clear of Montreal (and they have two games in hand)

Meanwhile Colorado and Dallas are Actually Great
