A little surprised they couldn’t flip him for a mid-round pick. I think he’ll get claimed. One of those guys who would be a legit top six option if he were 15 pounds heavier and two inches taller, but he just gets muscled off the puck too easily.

Missed the game last night seeing Protomartyr down the road from Pizzarena Uno. No Kane but DeBrincat still got two PP goals, including the winner in the third. ASP continued his hot streak with a nice goal upstairs when he saw Sorokin cheating. There was a brief window in which Wings fans were saying he could use some time in GR, but got through that patch and has been putting up offensive numbers in the last 10 games. John Leonard, the AHL's leading scorer, got called up and filled in on the Copp / Cat line. I saw a few great chances for him in the highlight package but NHL goaltending is a step up from the AHL. A few good chances for Ras, too, but alas, he's Ras.

The Wings have a pretty brutal schedule in the rest of December but this was a good start against a team they'd lost to twice previously this season.

Mammoth had a couple of huge chances in close, hit the bar on one of them. Wings had more chances but a lot were blocked. I thought for sure that they were calling a penalty on the Wings after Hayton held Chiarot leading to a scoring chance for Guenther, based on the timing of the whistle, but it ended up being a Mammoth penalty.
