Dom L.'s new playoff odds article mentions the Wings as on the rise in its title. Their odds are up to... 49%! The Ottawa Senators are at 48%.

SNES are pretty fucked I think. They play good structured hockey but the results haven't come cause they have literally the worst goaltending in the league this year. (it's not the only problem, but it's too big to overcome) Basically need a 10 game win streak at this point but which goalie is going to do that? Is Andrew Hammond still under contract?

I didn't stay up to watch last night but it was fairly must win since they have a back-to-back tonight in...lemme check... Colorado.

The only thing that can save this season is the league giving them their first rounder back (which they SHOULD do based on the precedent where they gave NJ their back but which I am pretty sure they will not)

The Wings' big game this week is in Montreal on Saturday. They have Vancouver tonight (winnable) and then Carolina on Monday (probably a loss), then fly to Boston for Tuesday.

They had the option to choose which year between 2024, 2025, and 2026 and kept deferring. I don't blame them after making the playoffs comfortably last year.

The other HUGE problem is the amateur scouting is. Hensler looks awful and they haven't made a demonstrably good pick since maybe 2020? Probably the best pick in the last five years is Stephen Halliday in 2022 or something. Yakemchuk is having a good rookie season in the AHL so not a total disaster there yet but he's definitely behind Buium, Parehk and Dickinson.
