Kid Artillery got a new cat the weekend after Olive passed away. I was sure that if they went to the Humane Society, she'd come home with one, and sure enough, she did. It's been a rollercoaster of emotions since then, though, because she loves the new cat (Lynx, who is a long-haired gray cat with tufts of hair coming out of her ears) but misses Olive a lot, so there's a lot of sudden sobbing. This weekend she was scheming to adopt more cats, and no.

My daughter would say "You know what would really help? Adopting five more cats!"

would any of our resident yanks be willing to get something delivered to their yankee house to send to me as a tariff free gift? trying to buy this plush toy for the kid on ebay. all your costs will be covered. and when I receive something with your address I will send something back at some point (probably just some 4 year old scribble art)

Not great, Bob.

It's not like I expect anything else from them, but the response from Trump and Vance being "She was a horrible woman and a domestic terrorist and please protect our precious law enforcement officers" makes me sick to my stomach. The picture of the glove compartment overflowing with stuffed animals, I just can't process "We've gotta shoot this woman in the head."

The Greenland stuff is a different vein of insanity but Christ thinking about that (or Venezuela) raises my blood pressure. I try not to Connect Everything or whatever but "We're just going to take what we want" is The Rapist Administration, full on.

Yeah it's as grim and scary as I can remember. Then I sit down at lunch to watch an entertaining 3rd period and OT in Philadelphia, crowd is lively, country seems fine

And, you know, I guess I could go to blue sky but I feel that it's less the platform than the medium? Just the absolute worst way to communicate. My oldest came upstairs just before this while I posting about the olympics (she's home sick from school) and asked what I was doing and I told her I was posting on a message board and that it was an archaic way that people used to talk to one another on back when the internet was mostly good and full of promise.

(response I got was pokemon related, haha)

Bring back message boards. I recently Wayback Machined a couple of message boards I was involved in 2+ decades ago and got some good feels and memories of that kind of communication.
