I've managed to never listen to Spittin Chiclets so far and I will be continuing that policy in perpetuity if I can at all help it.

neuartillery wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2026 10:11 am It seems like with the cap going up so rapidly, it’s tough to find guys worth reaching the ceiling for. I don’t think the Tuch contract is good in a vacuum, but if you have 10 million in space, is there anything else worth spending it on?
I get that it was slim pickings BUT it's not a 3 year deal its 8 years. Just feels like it will age horribly (probably like Tuch, he's 30)
I get that but I feel like 10 mill now will be much easier to bury in six or seven years.

Caps traded Hendrix Lapierre to the PNES for a couple of mid-rounders

Odd that they dumped him and McMichael recently

I’m very curious if the Wings trade Larkin before or at the draft. I still think a deal involving Robertson seems possible, with him presumably going to a third party. Unless Larkin is only willing to go to Minnesota, I don’t think Yurov / Stramel / 1st is enough.

Utah remains my preferred return (Desnoyers) and I’m curious about Anaheim (McTavish, Solberg).

I can see how they would reach that conclusion based on 0 games played, though, fair analysis

The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired Valeri Nichushkin from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick, a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick, according to league sources.

Nichushkin, 31, had 283 points in 404 games over seven seasons with the Avalanche and was a key member of their 2022 Stanley Cup win. He signed an eight-year, $6.125 million average annual value extension after that season. He has four years left on that deal and a 12-team no-trade list.
Could be a good move if he stays on the ice and out of off-ice trouble

Wings traded Amadeus Lombardi, a deeper prospect that I generally liked (smaller, skilled center) who was losing waiver eligibility, to the Devils for a 4th

Bummer

Rangers and Blooze are in on Mason McTavish, I assume St. Louis gets him because they have four first rounders

The only things I've heard about Larkin are 1. he'd prefer to go to Dallas 2. Guerin's calling Yzerman multiple times a day. In terms of Dallas, it depends on Robertson, who has rejected two trades so far (Seattle and St. Louis). I saw an unsubstantiated report that he wants to stay in Dallas but other than that people are guessing he wants to go to a California team (Anaheim or SJ) and Dallas wants a Rantanen-like return (player + two firsts). I don't see how Minnesota's offer could have improved for Larkin, it's gonna suck if they end up doing Yurov + Stramel + 2027 1st.

Apparently people are freaking out about a pending millionaires tax in WA, the contract was structured to pay out as much as possible before it kicked in

Hilarious in retrospect that the SNES thought they had any shot at this guy.

I was under the impression that he was the booming shot from the point that they've been missing for 10 years. It's impressive that he can be the trigger man like that and also the PP..what a bargain.

There's an Instagram account that posts Leafs draft classes over the decades and there are decades where probably, Brad Boyes was their best first round pick. And today I saw the one for maybe 1996 with the first 7-8 names totally unfamiliar to me, guys I doubt played even a single game. Then it's like, 201. Tomas Kaberle and you're (I'm) like oh cool, incredible draft, no notes

On the hottest night in the history of the Europe I think back to the night the CL Toronto crew watched the oil draft Taylor Hall at my old place on Moutray St having turned down a chance to go to some friend with a cottage's cottage
