I'd forgotten that there's a Dec. 1 cutoff for RFAs signing if they want to be eligible to play this season, so in theory the Edvinsson situation won't drag on all season. It's hard to be optimistic about it right now, but I do think Utah is more likely to trade for Edvinsson than Larkin, and I think the Wings could get a haul if that's the case.

Seeing Edvinsson trade packages from, like, Toronto, is brutal: "Well we can't include Cowan so it's Danford two cap dumps and a 2nd"

Wings already have enough cap dumps of their own. That's probably why nothing has been done yet.

Yeah it’s not worse than the Michigan-born captain wanting a trade or the total mismanagement of a top pair defenseman, but the ideal of circling back to 2020 and being a dumping ground for another generation of Marc Staals is a gut punch.

Still, someone like Jack McBain would be an improvement over Sheldon Dries.
