Re: 2023-2024 Offseason Thread: NHL Sets May 7th as official date of rigging lottery against Wangs

Pronman did a piece on Silayev and a Blackhawk fan in the comments was all "We shouldn't draft him because we have Vlasic and Korchinski" which I had to chuckle at, if you have the #2 pick you take the best player available, not overrate your existing roster players and draft based on them.

Had forgotten about Vancouver playing in the playoffs under Green and they won the play-in and then in the first round before losing to Vegas in 7. That helps... a bit?

I feel like I watched every game of that playoffs for lack of anything else to do and I really don't remember much of it

Love this Pinto "sure sure whatever, you got it Jakov" reaction to Slafkovsky trying to act very tough

Haha

Slaf injured a couple of Wings, plus I have to see Habs fans getting totally hyped about a first overall pick finally playing like a mid-tier first overall pick. Fuck him!

Pronman did a mock draft

SNES Parekh
Wild Iginla
Wings Brandsegg-Nygard

MBN is the consensus pick for the Wings, still don’t know how much offensive upside he has, but he has size and competitiveness on the wing and that’s a good floor.

I’d be surprised if Iginla makes it to 13. I don’t know how high Iginla and Sennecke end up going, but I like the idea of the Habs taking one of them and their fan base losing their minds about not taking Demidov or Lindstrom.

I was told rather emphatically by Chicago fans on The Athletic that they cleaned house of all bad eggs! How can this be?

BLOT got McDonagh back from Nashville

Hard to see how they bring back Stamkos without making another move

I would appreciate Marner being acquired by one of the original hardass defence first coaches

Habs fans need to be locked in a sewer

The only valid one here is Reinbacher > ASP, which is totally fair because he was picked like 12 spots earlier in the same draft! But even that's closer now than it was at the draft, given how ASP played this season.

Cossa has had a very solid year in the AHL and is still playing! Edvinsson is 6'6" and can play NHL D, while the jury is absolutely out on Hutson in his own zone. I very much doubt even Scott Wheeler would rank Roy and Beck above Danielson and Kasper.

Apparently McDonagh had asked for a trade. I still don't really get it from the BLOT perspective.

Martin Necas supposedly won't sign a contract extension with the Canes. Curious what would need to be added to the 15th pick to get him.

Pronman and Wheeler traded picks for today's mock draft

SNES took Buium at 7 over Parekh, seems unlikely given the handedness
Wild took Eiserman at 13
Wings took Helenius at 15 (and then Wheeler said he likes Helenius more than either Danielson or Kasper... fuck you, pal)
