It’s not offsides if the player with the puck doesn’t touch the puck in the zone until the offside player tags up. I was unaware of that wrinkle until it came up on a McDavid entry / goal vs. the Wings this year.

what is the significance of jones not touching the puck on the third goal? with respect to it being on or offside?

Sportsnet didn't really show anything about it really even talk about it. I thought the replay looked close but at this point I figure if it's 0.1mm offside the team that got scored on knows and challenges so I assume it was fine.
