They had like 4 -5 huge chances that fell to the wrong guys or Knies who is hurt and the Rielly pinches on a nothing play for no reason and carlo turns it into a slow motion breakway

Lorentz fumbled one of the better / only Leafs second-period chances in the slot off his stick and I thought “Maybe Steven Lorentz shouldn’t have two of your best chances”

Aside from the fans / the curse / balls receding inside torsos, the thing that struck me the most was how much Florida had the puck in the slot. They had no issues getting there and making things happen when they did. Toronto couldn’t force their way into that territory, and their only goal came on a rush. They couldn’t generate anything once they got in the zone, and there were long stretches (the first ten minutes of the game, most of the second period) when they couldn’t get the puck out of their own zone.

I do think Florida’s good at that, I mean they’re the defending champs and all, but players like Matthews / Marner take what the other team gives them instead of dictating play.

They do that in the zone but they're good at generating off the rush and Berube god love him tried to turn the leafs into a flip and chase team that basically never worried about exiting the zone with possession, that never made cross ice passes into space except deep D to D ones, that always used the boards/glass to exit the zone and when they didn't it was 20 foot high flips. And Florida has the most aggressive dmen pinch setup in the league, and they could step up at will
