Re: The Official 2025 Offseason Thread: No childhood photo, no deal
I was shocked Gibson's only 31 (turning 32 in a few weeks). Same age as Ullmark. A lot more mileage, though.
The big question is how much of a workload can he handle. He played 29 games last year and had a .912%, which is way better than any Red Wing goalie. If he can do 40-50 and Talbot can do 30-40, that's a massive improvement on their goalie situations from the last few seasons. I also like that he has two years left. That's the perfect runway for Cossa and potentially Augustine. I think he wants to prove he's still a starter and will come out hot.
It would obviously help a ton if they got another top 4 defenseman.
The return (2026 4th, 2027 2nd, Mrazek) is fairly negligible. Apparently Verbeek was asking for a 1st and Anton Johansson (Swedish defenseman who came to GR in the middle of last season and immediately rose up the depth chart) during last season, presumably when the Ducks got Husso or the Wings got Mrazek.

Gavrikov's the guy the Wings need the most but Drury seems dead-set on changing (not necessarily improving, after everything's done) their defense and I think between the Rangers having prominent Russians and Drury's willingness to overpay, he ends up there. Gavrikov does have familiarity with McLellan and his staff.
It's hard not to get fluttery eyes at the thought of Seider with Gavrikov instead of Chiarot.
Gavrikov / Seider
Edvinsson / Albert Johansson
Chiarot / Gustafsson
Holl
With the potential of ASP, Wallinder, or Buium coming up

I don't know if they'd be able to get someone like Ehlers, but I hope they can at least move Tarastinko. Getting a genuine 4th line grinder type in and giving Mazar / Danielson real shots to make the team would be great.
Nicolas Hague has come up a lot as a potential cap casualty from Vegas and he'd be a solid option for the 2nd/3rd pair and PK if they strike out on Gavrikov. K'andre Miller could also get moved and I'd be in on that if the price isn't outrageous.

Re: The Official 2025 Offseason Thread: No childhood photo, no deal
Giroux one year two million to stay with the SNES, good deal for them
Knies six years at 7.75 million, I guess that's the going rate
Fabbro stays with Beej at four years 4.125 per, I think he would've gotten a bit more in FA but I understand being appreciative of a good landing spot

Morgan Geekie gets 6 / 33 (5.5 per) from the Broons
I have major doubts as to whether he'll score 33 goals again in his career, but if he sticks with Pastrnak he probably will

I expected closer to 9, just because that's how the Leafs used to do it. good work by BTGrand Moff Larkin wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 5:46 pm Knies six years at 7.75 million, I guess that's the going rate
