Luke Hughes gets 7 years 63 mill, so 9 per. Feels like that's just above the range for Edvinsson, who had 31 points last year despite no PP time.

Yeah that's my conclusion. You need star talent, star talent almost always out-performs their AAV, and I don't see another star coming to Minnesota, especially if Kaprisov had gone. It's a lot of money and I'm most concerned about whether he stays healthy, but if they're ever going to push above the "Happy to be in the playoff mix" tier, they needed him to stay.
