LeBron trying to overshadowed McDavid today. Pathetic.Grand Moff Larkin wrote: ↑Mon Oct 06, 2025 1:49 pm I’m not sure if h’s more likely to leave in two years if they win a Cup or don’t win a Cup
Like if Bowman makes some smart (what McDavid wants) moves and they make two more Finals, I don’t think he leaves. But if they win a Cup and don’t look like a good longterm lineup, I think it’s LeBron to the Lakers.

Putting aside Mcdavid's legend for a sec, what's the best case scenario here in terms of allocating the cap savings? They've got no room this year. Is there a good projectwd UFA goalie next summer?

Boston and NYI are both in a pretty bad place in terms of contention window so I think Bowman goes hard for Swayman or Sorokin
Not a lot of good in having your star goalie locked up with nobody around to help?

I can see the Isles more than the Broons. I think with Darche the Isles know they’re in a rebuild and probably too good with Sorokin (and Barzal / Horvat, to be honest) to get another Schaefer-level piece high in the draft. They moved Dobson, I can see them moving more pieces.
I don’t see the Broons moving Swayman unless they also move Pastrnak and McAvoy. My gut is that they think they’re back in the mix if they’re healthy, which given how some of the teams in the division are trending (Barkov being out, Marner gone) may well be possible.

assuming Ekholm signs for like 5m I think they have like $17M cap space next year
IMO they need a goalie and a top 6 goal scoring winger and don't see too many holes beyond that
not sure who best fits the bill for both of those but they have a lot of cash to make it happen

What a guy.
Was also reading how this contract coincides with Hyman's ending, Nuge has 1 more year I think, Nurse is tradeable/buy out-able by then, and the cap is expected to be like $120MM. It's the perfect time to re-load, even if Connor wants like $25MM at that time.

What would they have to trade for Swayman or Soro?
Re: The Official 2025 Offseason Thread: No childhood photo, no deal
I would think a lot but if they have draft/prospect capital why not throw it at them? Sorry I don’t follow their picks/prospects really.

I think you can build a package with Skinner, 1st and one of their top prospects and go from there. That's obviously not enough in theory, but sometimes it is? Goalies always tend to be undervalued on the trade market
Re: The Official 2025 Offseason Thread: No childhood photo, no deal
Im surprised they have all their 1st after 2026, it felt like they traded further into the future than that. But I guess they have traded or lost many of their 1sts in previous years, either the pick itself or the player they took
