I read a few posts on HF Leafs and tell you what, I am convinced the Leafs should trade a cap dump and a depth piece for Dougie Hamilton and a pick.

honestly though I would absolutely trade for Detective Dog Doug, he will love it in TO, home to a great reference library, he might have forgotten how great it is. if it is actually possible for a team with no assets to get him I think it needs to be the team I cheer for. I assume everyone here agrees?

I'm also interested-ish in Dougie Do Right, depending on the cost. He has another two years at 9 per, so the Leafs would need to send back a bunch of money / have NJ retain, and I can't imagine NJ is eager to retain.

The Wings could fit his contract straight-up. ASP has been struggling of late (they sit him in the third period if it's close) and having another top-four D would be a huge help. They don't have another top-four level guy in the system, unless someone pops off, but lots of potential bottom pair dudes. His counting stats are bad but his Corsi %s look fine. The question is whether he'd get PP time in Detroit moving forward -- Seider is the top guy and ASP, if he's on the roster, is on it because he's creative offensively.

My gut is that he'd cost a lot less in return than Rasmus Andersson (supposedly Detroit's offered Danielson + 1st if he has an extension, which I am not eager to do). He's older, though, and not playing as well this season.

The other options on the D market are less appealing: Justin Faulk (could be good, I guess), Connor Murphy (fine, whatever), Logan Stanley (if they sell high), Luke Schenn (currently bad on a bad team).

I would take Schenn for not much at the deadline and leave it there too.
