I had no clue that Luke Evangelista had over 50 points last year. A future late first isn’t a huge price but I wonder if he’s a complementary scorer like former Shark Kevin Lebanc who doesn’t pan out elsewhere.

Noah Ostland got 8 years, 52 million from the Sabres and all their fans on The Athletic are like "Wow masterful contract."
Meanwhile the Wings don't have a GM and they're running out of time to hire one before the eighth year option goes poof.
I'm trying desperately to not think about hockey these days.

Yo Nick, two of my son's friends played for the Jets rookie tournament team this weekend - Taillefer and Howard.

Horcoff named the Wings’ interim GM
Hope it’s so they can do Edvinsson and DeBrincat’s deals today

He was supposedly asking for $12M, absurd. So, it's a better deal than that? but... Jeez, I dunno. he's a good player and one one hand they couldn't afford to LOSE him but on another hand... feels like it's too much bucks. Maybe I'm not used to the new NHL salary structure.

Ostlund didn’t crack 30 points this year and got 52 million.
I don’t think Yzerman was ever going to come around to this cuckoo math. Like DeBrincat should get 12 a year. Edvinsson probably 9.

I had to look up Batherson’s stats and even after that 10.75 per felt high.

Agree. It's like... they are betting that he's going to keep scoring more points I guess?neuartillery wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2026 10:22 am I had to look up Batherson’s stats and even after that 10.75 per felt high.
I understand the desire to use the 8 year carrot as a chance to get a better deal maybe on the AAV front but I would maybe wanna see him git a point per game once before going all out?
But yeah, I get it, the other deals going out right now are even more nuts.

Justin Sourdif got 8 years, 6.35 per. 50.8 total.
Without looking it up, can you say with certainty which team Sourdif plays for?
