I listened to The Athletic's podcast run through a list of possible destinations today and I still think he ends up in Buffalo. Jack Quinn, a goaltender, a 1st.

I wanna see one of these team USA fun boys sit out a whole season. Helley was good for 2 weeks last year when he wasn't playing for the Jets

I'm genuinely torn on how to root for the Wings this year.

On the wildly optimistic side, it would be fun if the team minus Larkin goes on a fuck-you run, making the playoffs to spite their former captain, and guys like Kasper and Danielson pop off.

On the far more realistic side, they really need a top-five pick to get a real difference-maker. Ideally that's a center but Landon Dupont, sure, come on down.

What'll probably happen is that even with dogshit center depth and the Larkin / GM things dragging for way too long, they'll just be Regular Bad again, because Seider's a beast and Gibson can win games. They'll draft 9th or 10th and get another guy who'll probably top out as a second-liner.

Apparently Wings ownership didn't like that Yzerman told them a Larkin trade wouldn't make them better now, which is the opposite of what was initially out there (Yzerman was dead-set on getting a comparable player in return).

I've often thought about how what ownership wants is lost in the takes on GM decisions, specifically thinking back to some of the moves Ken Holland did to keep them in the playoff mix. It would be great to hear from Yzerman on what he actually wanted from a Larkin trade but that will never, ever come out.

I don't have high confidence that the SNES'll be having a great year or anything but it's at least a good bet to not have any major drama? But maybe that's just a false sense of security
