Got away with it, Ullmark is good, the end

Bob hasn't been terrible and very many of his goals against have been on wide open looks in the middle of the slot, but still he has been beaten clean an awful lot

At this point, record aside, I'd be ok with the SNES taking a flyer on Laine. Is anybody interested in shooting the fucking puck on this team?

I'm inclined to agree, at least record wise - they've been getting some results thanks to goaltending and a bit of luck. The offence is a bit painful.
Can't see Laine working out on this team, tho - his attitude is AWFUL and his only value is on the PP and even more specifically him getting the puck in exactly one spot. I don't think Ottawa has the ability to execute and even get him the puck TBH
I was hoping that they could use Yak's bomb on the point to create some space cause, well, you know that's the whole thing with PPs is you need the other team to respect the point shot so you can force open spaces but I guess the absence of any other real threat besides the bumper makes it easy to defend and he has no good shot opportunities (or he's not getting good passes)
Would having Laine help with that? Maybe slightly? My gut says it would be an awful move, tho

I think it only worked in Montreal because teams also had to worry about Caufield wherever he was, Hutson being so good at distributing and creating space/lanes, AND they also have a cross-crease threat from Slafkovsky ALSO Suzuki's pretty good too.

Anyway, next game is Brady's return on wednesday. Should have Sanderson back but not feeling super good about this one going well and their reward either way is playing ANOTHER back-to-back against a rested team, this time SJ

The Wings having sheltered Kane for the last few years makes me really wonder about how you maintain team culture (which the SNES seem to have in terms of defensive coverage) if one guy is allowed to opt out.

He earned it. Although I have questions about how far he can take the team, hard to argue he hasn't done well and got the team buying into a system that can at least get them into the playoffs. And considering how abjectly horrible that same aspect of the team was before he came onboard.

PNES plane had to land after Ben Kindel had a medical episode (initially reported as a seizure)

Habs fans booing Celebrini every time he touches the puck. He's officially made it

I have a miserable feeling about the Brady return game tonight. SNES have been awful against Florida in general and the lunk has been on fire lately. He's definitely going to score isn't he.

Brady: "There's professional reasons and personal reasons why I wasn't going to resign here." I mean feel free to go on, bud!
Timmy apparently skipped the dinner some guys had with Brady last night and says he hasn't seen him.

Could it be the same as a (likely) rumoured Hellebuyck reason? That, post-Olympics, he felt that Ottawa (the team and the city) didn't fete him enough during a literal trade war and annexation commentary?

I think that's the personal one, yeah. Professionally, maybe he didn't like Green's style or that Ottawa was always gonna be a small market? (which would have been fine I guess if not for the preceding years of "I AM AN OTTAWA LIFER" talk)

It sure would be a nice night for a 6-2 win or something

Amazon Prime has Shane Hnidey, Jodey Shelley, and Thomas Hickey in the broadcast. Kinda boring as far as ex players go (no offense to them)
