If they announce a signing during the game and bring him out, I’ll go to the team store and buy his jersey

Compher top six center

:davidbooth:

Feels incredibly weird for my first game of the year to be on the day Larkin poops his diaper and decides he’s done

I stand corrected: Copp is their 1C tonight

No ASP fucking garbage

Danielson playing with Compher and Ras, which is somehow a step up for him

Late night dreaming: eat salary to ditch Gibson/Copp/Faulk, on top of trading Larkin and Edvinsson, how fucking stacked the cabinet could possibly be

They could play it smart and be turned around so fast. I don't think they will.

It depends on if they can actually get a high-level forward prospect / young guy for Edvinsson. Like Michael Misa or Wyatt Cullen? I'll probably come around on it. But if it's like Dalibor Dvorsky / Theo Lindstein / 1st or Dean Letourneau / Mason Lohrei / 1st, no.

The biggest difference for me between seeing a game in person and watching on TV is that I'll focus on individual players longer. It was interesting seeing the game scorecard online because I felt some guys did better than their chart. Notes:

Arvidsson: Four point night, great stat line especially given it was Kane's return and he's essentially replacing Kane but he can score 5 on 5. The biggest thing with him is how tenacious he is on the forecheck / in the corners. Not big but forces guys off the puck. So yeah, Inverse Kane.
Finnie: In terms of open ice speed / excitement, he has The Juice more than any other Wing. He could've had a couple of goals. Maybe that's just a deficit in finishing, but he's so much fun to watch.
MBN: Had issues uncorking his shot, did not have issues finishing his hits. Gave away the puck in the first and then doggedly worked to get it back.
Rasmussen: He had a pretty good game by his standards -- got three shots, attempted a few creative plays, was generally one of the better looking Wings over the first two periods. Had a bad / signature giveaway in the third where he failed to get it deep and then Chicago transitioned.
Englund: His advanced stats were bad but the vibes were good? Laid a couple of big hits, didn't get out of position.
Anton Johansson / William Wallinder: Quiet games for both, I'd forgotten that AnJo was in the lineup at all until the late second.
Chiarot: The second highest game score among defensemen, probably because he was out there with Seider, but he's also not trying to do too much (which was his biggest issue back when they paired him with Petry).
Danielson: Tough start to the game, just seemed out of sorts and tentative on the puck. Gradually got better, played well off the puck, and had a good scoring chance late. Would help if he played with offensive players but it's not like he was good on the PP.

The Raymond goal was such a laser.

Not a good sign when there are multiple emergency podcasts in my feed pertaining to the Wings / Larkin situation.

I'm not surprised that there's a Russo / Smith incredibly thirsty "Are the Wild finally going to get Larkin?" article today or that Wild fans are beyond obnoxious in the comments ("You can't have Yurov anymore, he's too good" no points in six games, five points on the season) or that the one troll keeps breaking containment and coming into Wings-only articles to stir the pot, but I've said it before and I'll say it again: I'd rather Detroit gets a lesser package from another team that Bill Guerin / these fucking fans get what they want.

I believe you! At this rate I'd be incredibly wary of acquiring him for any number of reasons. But I don't think the Wildverse shares your opinion.

Supposedly SJ and Detroit have had serious talks about Edvinsson, with the Sharks submitting a real trade offer that the Wings rejected

I assume it comes down to whether SJ thinks they can get Edvinsson without giving up Misa, like Verhoeff / Dickinson, some forward (Musty?), 1st

It's not like the Wings need Ravensbergen in their system.

I do this too. I'm pretty sure I just watched Mo for the half of last year's game he was on the ice.
I can't wait to see Finnie and MBN this year. Hopefully with Kasper in the mix.

I don't either. The Wild are my 2nd team, and have plenty of problems of their own already.

But I did panic buy tickets for the January game, because if he does come here, they will become unattainable.

(also: yes, Russo sucks, and I firmly believe the online fans largely suck as a result of him)

I stupidly went down the rabbit hole of "What do Sharks fans think they could trade for Edvinsson?" and it's probably time to accept that all fan bases have the Montreal Canadiens brain of "Why would I give up anything I would miss?"

Sam Dickinson has to be included because he's a young defenseman but man he has underwhelmed in the pros. I thought he'd be an offensive defenseman but he had 14 points last season and has two this season. Bystedt would probably be the center they'd include and they'd sell his AHL success, but dude should be in the NHL full-time now.

There's probably a no-Misa package that would be OK but these guys are uninspiring.

I assume I'm going to hate any trade they do at this point. I just wish they'd get it over with, I loved the postgame sentiment of "this is our squad now" but it really isn't until the Edvinsson situation resolves
