The 2025 NHL Draft Thread

I have a skin infection on my stomach that's turned into a fluid-filled abscess (fun times) and need to go to the ER to get it drained today. Will I still be there when the draft starts? I sure hope not!

Anyway here's my guess on the first round until the Wings pick, after which point I do not really care

1. Isles: Schaefer
2. Sharks: Misa (there's talk of them going for Frondell, but I'm not sold on that guy and I think Grier's smarter than that)
3. Chicago: Frondell
4. Utah: Desnoyes (Isles are shopping Dobson, I think their ideal return would be James Hagens at this pick)
5. Nashville: Martin
6. Philly: Hagens
7. Boston: O'Brien
8. Seattle: Martone
9. Buffalo: Mrtka
10. Anaheim: McQueen
11. PNES: Aitcheson
12. PNES: Eklund
13. Detroit: Smith

How I'd rank the guys potentially available to Detroit:

1. Eklund
2. Smith
3. Bear
4. Carbonneau
5. Reschny
6. Aitcheson
7. Nesbitt
8. Lakovic

I'm not 100% sold on Smith's brain but I think there's less concern in that department with him than with Aitcheson, and they need more defensemen in their pool.

2. Pick Martin, Hagens, or Martone
3. Trade pick to Isles, who pick Hagens

Martin’s the toughest one to slot. Taking him ahead of Hagens / O’Brien feels like a mistake. I could see any of them, McQueen, or Martone going to Nashville. But I’ll guess Martin goes there.
