If correctly slotted on the third pairing he's efficient in his own zone, decent enough at breaking the puck out (for that role). In short: he's fine! The wings could (and have done) a lot worse.

That was my gut on him, thanks. My biggest concern today was that Yzerman would do Justin Holl, But Different and sign Lindgren or Ceci to a multi-year deal.sutterfamily wrote: ↑Tue Jul 01, 2025 4:49 pmIf correctly slotted on the third pairing he's efficient in his own zone, decent enough at breaking the puck out (for that role). It seems apparent that aside from Gibson, if the Wings are going to improve, it'll be from within (or from trades). That's fine! Don't sign dumb contracts!

I would have taken Perb at that price

Just a bunch of nothing. NHL is so boring.

Miller goes to Carolina for Scott Morrow, the better of Carolina and Dallas’s 2026 1sts (top ten protected), and a 2nd.
He then signs for 8 years / 60 mil, so 7.5 per.
The comparable return from Detroit would have been AlJo, 1st, 2nd (or maybe a 3rd instead because of the difference of the 1st). Between that and the contract… I don’t think I do it.

I’m probably underrating Morrow but he looked terrible in the playoffs

Re: The Official 2025 Offseason Thread: No childhood photo, no deal
SNES signed Eller for 4C at $1.25M (+ potential $1M in bonuses) and that is such a wayyyyyy better play than resigning Gaudette at $2M.
He scored some important goals (and they maybe miss the playoffs without his early season heater) but Gaudette shot 21% last year, ending with 19 goals. I liked that he could play up the lineup (a bit) but adding Eller's defensive impact at 4C is more than worth the trade-off.
Not much else to speak of from there?
I liked the Spence trade it remains to be seen how he can do in less sheltered minutes if that ends up needing to happen (eg. Jensen is not ready for start of season)
