I listened to The Athletic's podcast run through a list of possible destinations today and I still think he ends up in Buffalo. Jack Quinn, a goaltender, a 1st.

I wanna see one of these team USA fun boys sit out a whole season. Helley was good for 2 weeks last year when he wasn't playing for the Jets

I'm genuinely torn on how to root for the Wings this year.

On the wildly optimistic side, it would be fun if the team minus Larkin goes on a fuck-you run, making the playoffs to spite their former captain, and guys like Kasper and Danielson pop off.

On the far more realistic side, they really need a top-five pick to get a real difference-maker. Ideally that's a center but Landon Dupont, sure, come on down.

What'll probably happen is that even with dogshit center depth and the Larkin / GM things dragging for way too long, they'll just be Regular Bad again, because Seider's a beast and Gibson can win games. They'll draft 9th or 10th and get another guy who'll probably top out as a second-liner.

Apparently Wings ownership didn't like that Yzerman told them a Larkin trade wouldn't make them better now, which is the opposite of what was initially out there (Yzerman was dead-set on getting a comparable player in return).

I've often thought about how what ownership wants is lost in the takes on GM decisions, specifically thinking back to some of the moves Ken Holland did to keep them in the playoff mix. It would be great to hear from Yzerman on what he actually wanted from a Larkin trade but that will never, ever come out.

I don't have high confidence that the SNES'll be having a great year or anything but it's at least a good bet to not have any major drama? But maybe that's just a false sense of security

The biggest story from the first two Wings preseason games is that Anton Johansson, the 6'4" smooth-skating A-Jo, had four assists last night against the PNES. My guess is that he still starts the year in GR, but comes up with either injury or a Faulk trade (which I think will happen at the deadline, presumably they recoup a 2nd and a prospect).

People are saying Danielson has looked underwhelming -- par for the course, I guess -- so it's possible Rochette takes his spot to start the year. MBN has been great but it's hard for me to see them rolling a third line of essentially all rookies.

Is Kasper (Cito Gaston Gingras prospect) really getting a look in the top 6 while Larkin is out?

That’s the plan, but it’s hard to say Arvidsson / Kasper / Finnie is a real second line. They seem like a good third line.

How much do you think the Carlsson offer sheet raised that contract? My guess is at least 1.75 per.

Look, Hughes is a very good GM but it's easier to look like a genius when guys are signing moronically low deals (with the most profitable team in the league). It wasn't even ahead of the rising cap, the deals were under value for the actual OLD cap.

Watching Wings preseason, Tarasov just poked a puck directly to a Sabre in front of him (who immediately roofed it) and somehow he’s not getting blamed for it

Washington has pieces but 1. They already added a ton of guys this summer 2. They’re not going to move the pieces I’d want, anyway.

Tampa was discussed before, Sam O’Reilly, Conor Geekie, things of that nature

Weird. I would never watch a CBJ game so I hope he is good. I have been able to confirm that he is a right shot and we need one of them. My dad's gonna be upset about another Russian on the team, oh well.
