John Leonard got sent down so he wouldn't have to deal with waivers and Sheldon Dries was recalled. Hopefully Soderblom's back in the lineup tonight.

Dries has kicked around the NHL with Colorado and Vancouver, playing over 100 games, but I find this type of guys uninspiring. Leonard was productive at first with Copp / DeBrincat but he couldn't do much on the 4th line.

Raymond’s hit the post twice in the first

Habs fans whining for a penalty when it should’ve been a 5 on 3 for the Wings

I’m sure Habs fans were thrilled about the penalty disparity but all of the calls against the Habs so far are automatic

The third period stats and Ken Daniels is talking about how Marty St. Louis chose to put out the kid line against the Kane Copp Cat line, and 30 seconds in they leave DeBrincat wide open in the slot and he tees up a dagger to make it 3-0.

Suzuki’s gotten killed on faceoffs tonight and hasn’t looked very good after then either

Demidov and Kapanen have looked the best of the Habs. Hutson doing Hutson things, but I think the Wings defend him well and he hasn’t really threatened.

JVR took a stick to the face on a rough

Larkin gets pushed down by the face from Caufiel;

No calls on either, I’m sure Habs fans are keeping track of those

Habs fans whining about the Wings playing 90s clutch and grab hockey in the Athletic comments. I watched the game knowing the Wings had a 5-1 advantage in power plays, and if anything they let a few Habs penalties go in the third.

The penalties called against Montreal:

Carrier holding Rasmussen's stick: He did it, that line had some good zone time. The only penalty against Detroit was... holding the stick
Gallagher high-sticking Appleton: He absolutely did it, wasn't a soft one, either.
Texier holding Compher: He had both arms around Compher as he was trying to come out from behind the net with the puck. They're gonna call that!
Too many men: Missed the actual infraction because of the TV timeout but that's an automatic one
Kapanen roughing Seider: He finished his check on Seider and then gave him a rabbit punch to the face. Is that going to get called if you don't do it with the ref a foot away staring right at it? Probably not. But that situation is begging the ref to call it

Supposedly the Wings offer for Rasmus Andersson was Nate Danielson and their 1st. I don’t know if I’d move Danielson — they need future centers and I don’t see them getting a better one. Unless Finnie and Kasper are the guys, but they seem like wingers.

Bear / MBN sure? I’m not giving up two firsts unless he agrees to a long-term extension.

Andersen’s numbers are terrible this year, can’t wait for him to get a shutout

Nuts that it’s January and the Wings are in a game for first place in the conference
