Well sutterfams was right on the OT part

I do think Forsberg’s had a good night. The Veleno goal hit a SNE on the way in, the defense was at fault on the Larkin goal.

I agree, he's been good! Best game of the year. Also, a good game all around - had an intense feel, lots of urgency from both teams.

I mean, it's not over yet but OT/SO is chaos, who knows what happens

It was a real close game throughout. Forsberg made a few great saves in OT before the PP.

Other takeaways tonight:

Kane got the winner after mostly having a sloppy game. Not as disengaged as he was in the last month of Lalonde but it was a physical game with a lot of board battles and that's not his element. Compher, however, made some great plays.

Talbot gave up a couple but made a number of key stops to minimize the damage in the second, which was totally dominated by the SNES. Would be tough if Lyon is out long-term but Husso can come up.

Kasper getting a shot with Larkin and Raymond is nice to see. He needs to finish, though -- that 2 on 1 was a

Holl was the weakest Wing D tonight, he does fine with physicality but gets flustered by speed and makes poor decisions. (For the best that Petry was out tonight--he has the exact same issues.) In contrast I wasn't sure how Johansson would handle the SNES' forecheck but he did well. Edvinsson going out was a huge concern, he seems more injury-prone than Seider (who hasn't missed a game and seems to shrug off contact while enduring huge numbers of blocked shots).

I'm serious about the SNES taking Tarasenko back. McLellan has "fixed" a number of Wings but he still looks like a passenger. It's not like Berggren early in the season where he was doing the work but not scoring.

Ottawa really does need to add a scoring winger but it doesn't look like Vlady is going to be that. OTTAWA HANGS UP THE PHONE.

He was a really solid middle 6 player last year but, I dunno, won his second cup last year + not a contract year = maybe not quite as engaged?

I am fully aware nobody’s taking Tarasenko. I think it’s a combination of Cup hangover, continuing decline, and struggles to mesh with linemates. He’s played with pretty much everybody, I was surprised it didn’t work with Larkin and Raymond. But they benefit from someone helping with The Work (Rasmussen, Veleno, Motte, and Kasper have rotated through in that capacity) whereas Tarasenko needs others to do the work for him. Seems like Compher and Berggren is his best fit.

As for Ottawa’s needs, if Perron comes back healthy I think he’s effectively that scoring winger add.
