Detroit is challenging for interference because it was poked out
I am not optimistic about this

DeBrincat scored to make it 3-2

Everybody but Larkin scored, he hit the crossbar
Caps win
Wings lucky to get a point, but the Broons, Habs, Sabres, and BLOT all won, and the Panthers are tied in the third

Watched the first period of Wings Avs on the treadmill
They listed Holl (who got called up) in the lineup but Gustafsson is in for Hamonic
Burns got the first goal after the Wings lost a board battle by their own blue line and AlJo couldn’t close the gap fast enough. MacKinnon got the second one from between the circles through a bunch of traffic.
The Wings had two PPs. On the first one they tried Larkin Raymond DeBrincat Seider ASP and Gus Copp Kane JVR Kasper, neither did anything. The second one was the usual and they had a few good looks but no puck luck.
MacKinnon isn’t a dirty player but fuck I hate him.
The Avs are 21 0 3 when leading after the first, this one feels like a foregone conclusion especially since the Wings have had their PPs already.

3-0 now, nothing Gibson could do with Colton getting the puck two feet in front

Now Gustafsson takes a tripping call
Great to know what longtime former Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson has to say about the penalty

Bad pass by JBD, goes immediately to MacKinnon for a goal into a wide open net
This sucks, taking a shower

the box score doesn't look too bad (other than the score, obv)
small sampling of online comments indicates some concern about playoff chances based on this performance
tell me it wasn't really that bad, NA?

I completely buy the “flu’s going around the room” narrative because even the guys that had legs seemed off. They had chances but were just off.
The playoff stuff gets overblown. At this point the two teams I’m concerned about are the Caps and Panthers, they’re the ones currently out that I could see getting in. If they lose the next two games, it’s not the end of the world, but getting Edvinsson back will be a huge help and I think Yzerman has to add another D at the deadline.

I genuinely didn't realize they'd tied with the Panth, point-wise. I could see them getting back into it, but Florida's scarier.
As for JERTS defensemen, I'm not especially enthusiastic about the Logan Stanley rumors, because I think they'd have to overpay for a guy having a career year who is not and will never be a valid top-four D, but I'd much rather have him than Schenn.

I'm just kidding, they are basically at miracle level to make it - basically a complete reversal in goaltending with vezina-level play. Exceedingly unlikely. Though I wouldn't be surprised if they end the year in 9/10 spot?
Though I still have a firm belief that *several* Atlantic teams are due for a bad 10-15 game stretch.

It’s entirely plausible the Wings’ slump continues after the break, but getting Edvinsson back will help a lot. They also don’t have as many Olympians as a lot of teams.
