The US keeps doing real pointless dumps when they have the puck in the neutral zone

Gutted for the gals. I guess Canada got away with a hook/slash on the Necas break yesterday but Murphy's hook was right on the hands on that early breakaway in OT.

My main grievance is with the faceoff before the tying goal. US player got dumped or fell off a rush and slid into the end boards, puck ends up underneath her, and the ref blows the play dead immediately for an offensive zone faceoff that allows them to pull the goalie. I think most refs let the play run for at least a few seconds there, and the puck most likely gets worked loose. But if not why should it result in an offensive zone faceoff? The US player caused the play to stop. It should go outside. Right? Am I right?

I thought 2 was the right call. Canada then pissed away 80 percent of that PP, almost gave up a couple shorthanded chances, before working that open look in the slot for MPP who fanned on it.

Pretty sure she got dumped by a Canadian player, so I’m fine with the faceoff being in the zone. I was glad they blew the whistle because she was fully down and getting hard pokes from a Canadian stick.

I still think there was time to let a tick or two pass, but anyway thinking back to before that, the Canadian player Bates I think? Darryl, great name, had the puck in the US zone on her off wing with possession, as linemates changed, at around the hash marks on the near side, 1 v 4, but with a clear path to the near corner and momentum. And she cut back toward the slot, against a line of 4 Yanqui scum, and gets stripped and the ensuing rush leads to the maybe trip or whatever that felled the American player that led to the faceoff with the goalie pulled. Can you picture this play? I can
