Women's hockey not necessarily better than men's hockey!
Britta Curl, the ninth overall selection at the 2024 PWHL Draft, has apologized for the “hurt” caused by her social media activity.
Curl, a center from the University of Wisconsin, was chosen by PWHL Minnesota in the second round on Monday night in Saint Paul. Her selection was met with boos at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium, and drew criticism online from fans, some of whom threatened to boycott the team.
Curl’s social media activity stirred controversy in the weeks leading up to the draft. Her “likes” on X included posts promoting COVID-19 conspiracy theories, attacking inclusive language toward transgender women, and appearing to show support for Kyle Rittenhouse, who shot and killed two people, and wounded a third, during unrest in Kenosha, Wis., in the wake of George Floyd’s murder.

He absolutely sat on the grenade of their decision to hire/fire Babcock last summer, but he also wasn't a good coach
Felt like the Beej botched the seasons of Fantilli, Johnson, and Jiricek... like what else do they have going on that's more important?

Hronek gets 7.25 for 8 years
Market rate, I'm not sure if I trust him that much

He was a point a game D for the first 25 or so and then regressed to “frustrating Hronek.” Heard a lot of “Wow Canucks got a first pair RHD for so little!!!” during those 25 games and i thought “You just wait.”

Pronman did his seven-round mock draft today, had the SNES taking Beckett Sennecke, the Wild getting Zayne Parekh, and the Wings taking Michael Hage.
Curveball with the SNES taking a forward but who knows, someone's going to grab Senneck in the top ten. Wild would run to the podium if one of the top six D is left. MBN and Hage seem like the best fits at 15 for the Wings, barring a faller.
Supposedly Demidov had a great Russian Combine in Florida, wonder if Chicago/Anaheim/Columbus will grab him. Funniest draft scenario is if Lindstrom and Demidov both go before five.

Slavin 8 years at a pretty reasonable number especially compared to Hronek

Big Body Defenseman Kevin Bahl and their 2025 1st going to Calgary
Calgary retained 31% of Markstrom's deal
Reluctantly have to hand it to NJ on this one

6.5 per for 8
Even if Hronek stays at a 50~ point pace, I'd rather have Slavin's defense and 35 points a year. Hronek's three years younger, too.

In the most important breaking news of the day, Wings re-signed former 2nd rounder Albert Johansson to a one-year, two-way deal. I think he'll be the 7th/8th defenseman this season, looked good / steady for GR last year.

Ullmark is trending and it's a weird mix of Broons fans:
1/3: "The price has been set and Ullmark will get more in return"
1/3: "Don't trade Ullmark! My precious!"
1/3: "We should temper expectations on an Ullmark return"

I'm trying to think if I've been impressed by any of the trades they've made. Lindholm is probably the best because they got a 1st, a good prospect, and a contributing player (moreso than a salary dump) in Kuzmenko. Tanev for a 2026 4th is very bad in hindsight, but I assume they didn't have any leverage. Hanifin only got a 2025 1st and a middling prospect.
Like, they're right to accumulate assets because that team wasn't going to do anything, but it feels like they should have gotten more of them / better pieces for all the guys they've moved.
