Seems like a good add for the SNES? I dunno, hopefully he's still got some potential to grow into.

Buffalo has traded Bowen Byram and Jordan Greenway to Chicago for the 2026 4th overall pick, the 2026 45th overall pick and Louis Crevier.
Assuming that Chase Reid is the pick, that's a great return. Crevier is a 6'8" defenseman who will be a live body for now.

Dumping Greenway too
I was a little surprised by how down The Athletic were on the Blackhawks side but giving up the 4th pick + + for a 25 year old you -think- could be a #1 (along with a cap dump) doesn’t have great odds. I’d rather have Reid!
It also takes the Blackhawks out of the running for a three way trade with Robertson and Larkin.

I really like Byram, wish he was a Leaf

Would you have traded the first overall for him? That seems to be the going rate (which is nuts to me)

No but I'd have done Knies. Maybe they add something

I'm not a Byram fan and tend to agree that price is bad, but he's good. Imagine the Blackhawks are getting impatient to improve maybe but gotta imagine it's not a great long-term strategy (I guess unless your scouts don't like any of the options they think will be there at 4)
If the Sabres also lose Tuch (which they should based on his salary ask, he's not worth $10 million FFS) it's got to be a bad sign for them replicating last year. (yay)

Caps sign-and-trade for Tuch, gave him $10.5 mil a year x 8 (which is terrible I think but he was gonna get it somewhere)

None of these seem very interesting. Tuch one seems kinda funny

The Athletic gave the contract a B- grade, baffling.

It seems like with the cap going up so rapidly, it’s tough to find guys worth reaching the ceiling for. I don’t think the Tuch contract is good in a vacuum, but if you have 10 million in space, is there anything else worth spending it on?

I think if you find an American player willing to play on your team that is not in a tax-free state or managed by the Team USA GM you just gotta pay what he wants

It sounds like Brady was butthurt that he got booed in Canada after the Olympics (in fucking Edmonton/Calgary... he never got booed in Ottawa) which made him want to get out. You gotta be kidding me.
if you don't listen to the Spttin Chiclets podcast the latest episode is a great one to start with, you will love their discussion of the Brady trade!

I get that it was slim pickings BUT it's not a 3 year deal its 8 years. Just feels like it will age horribly (probably like Tuch, he's 30)
