Bouchard gets 10.5 and four years

At that figure I would’ve preferred a longer term, lord knows what he’ll command when it’s up

Marner’s $12 million AAV represents 12.5 percent of the salary cap next season. That’s actually less than his last contract with the Leafs, which represented 13.4 percent of the salary cap at the time.
Leaving this here for practice

At least that means Vegas won’t win a cup for a long time

Seeing some excellently unhinged Leafs comments like:

Macelli 60pts + Roy 40pts = Marner 100pts

(fan coping aside, I do think Toronto are doing a good enough job adding pieces currently)

one of my Toronto buds was pondering if Marner is the biggest heel in Leafs history and I was thinking that ithe other contenders for that title from my lifetime are both hall of famers (Sundin and Larry Murphy)

Larry Murphy is far too much of a doofus to be a heel

I'm most curious about where Boeser ends up. There are too many teams* that need a top-six winger for him not to get a substantial contract, but he really needs the right fit given his footspeed and consistency issues.

* Toronto, Carolina, Winnipeg, Detroit at least. I'm trying to think of which other teams qualify.

Boeser seems like a guy who'd like a quieter market, Winnipeg is a real possibility for him. I don't see him as the Hurricanes' type.

It sucks that by all reports, Gavrikov is set on the Rangers, because he'd be an ideal fit for Detroit. The next best D is Orlov, who got roasted in the playoffs. Nate Schmidt and Ryan Lindgren are third-pair guys.

I’m listening to the most recent Athletic Hockey Podcast and would really appreciate 1. Not having to hear Chicago or Pittsburgh beat writers (Rob Rossi on this one) shit on the Wings 2. People thinking that the Wings have too many goalies.

When talking about the Wings’ D, Jesse Granger praised Ben Chiarot but not Simon Edvinsson.

Dreger says Ken Holland stepped up with a whopper of a deal for Rasmus Anderson & Andersson didn't wanna play in LA
This MF only wants to play in Vegas, I bet

8.5 per? On a goalie who played 29 games last year and was outplayed by Kevin Lankinen? I thought they were more likely to move him

Full NMC. Gotta lock that down at a premium price.

I am genuinely shocked by how optimistic 60% of Wild fans are about Vladimir Tarasenko. "We'll fix him, he'll score 20+ goals easy, there's no downside." Uh the downside is that you acquired a guy whose last team desperately wanted to dump him instead of getting a legit scoring winger. Remember how mad you were at Gus Nyquist for not producing? Now imagine you finally have cap space and use 4.75 million of it on a guy who is sub-Nyquist.

Hurricanes lock down Logan Stankoven with 8-year, $48 million extension
He was probably the best Hurricanes winger in the playoffs, 6 AAV seems like it'll age really well
