Mo is a wild man. I can't imagine what he's probably gutted out over the past few years.
Copp and Compher break! backhand from above the hashes.

The crowd going wild for a Canucks shot is also funny, especially since it was Postava’s first NHL save

Kind of a bummer that Justin Faulk has been very good as a Wing, exactly the kind of second-pair two way defenseman that they wanted / needed, and there’s really no point to keeping him past the trade deadline.

Kolesar breakaway pffffffffffttttt
I wanted to like Faulk. I just don't.

Kolesar shorthanded breakaway goes better than I would’ve expected: he gets hooked and doesn’t get a shot off
Did draw a penalty at least

Faulk kind of reminds me of Hronek.

Hronek ran so hot and cold. I remember when he got absolutely crushed by Ryan Reeves in Minnesota, he was on such a heater before that and after he was broken.

MBN has 8 points in 10 games and is a +10

I know better than to expect MBN and Finnie to keep this pace, but boy, that would be noice.

I spent half of my run today trying to work out the following trades (if an Edvinsson trade is inevitable, which I hope is not the case). The general idea is that Carolina and Utah were in on Hellebuyck but now have to look for upgrades elsewhere.
Carolina gets: Larkin and Wallinder
Detroit gets: Nikishin, Nadeau, Kotkaniemi or Jankowski, maybe a pick
Detroit gets a top four LHD, a good wing prospect, and a live human center. I do not like Kotkaniemi and he still has a bunch of years left on his dumbass contract, but I could see him being a necessary part of it. I put Wallinder in because he'd be waiver-bait with Nikishin onboard.
Utah gets: Edvinsson
Detroit gets: Desnoyers, McBain, 1st or Simashev
Detroit gets their center prospect, takes on an admittedly dumb contract for a bottom-six winger, and gets another piece. I'd prefer Simashev but I suspect they draw the line.

I don't know 1. how much Carolina values Nikishin in a trade 2. whether Nikishin would even come to Detroit 3. whether he would take a few million less AAV than Edvinsson. I do think Edvinsson makes more sense for Utah than Larkin does, and maybe a 23-year-old top pair defenseman is enough to get both Desnoyers and Simashev.
I'd prefer the cap dumps not to come with as much term as McBain and Kotkaniemi, and maybe you only accept one of those guys and take pending UFA Lawson Crouse instead (and move him at the deadline).
In terms of Nikishin, I was thinking about how Detroit is not exactly flush with Russians (Tarasov's it, right?) and then I thought about how Edvinsson would be leaving Sweden Central for zero of his countrymen. If I'm Horcoff, I say "Don't you want to hang out with Raymond and ASP and the Johannssons for seven years?"

To which he says, "Why do you think I came to camp?"
I'm a little baffled by the whole Ed situation.
But I'd absolutely love that return from Utah.

The most annoying thing that could happen just occurred to me, that Nikishkin goes to Utah and the Wings are left at the geek table alone again

The Edvinsson situation is infuriating -- unless he's asking for 14 mil a year or something, just pay him and focus on dealing Larkin.
I'm going to the game vs. the Blackhawks on Thursday and I would really appreciate it if they signed Edvinsson before then.
