Zach Aston-Reese with a dumb offensive zone penalty and the PNES kill a solid minute before they can touch

PNES have Boston, Nashville, and the Islanders

Wings have Toronto and Montreal twice

Caps have Tampa, Boston, and Philly

Sprong's giveaway that led to the shorthanded goal was a basically a siren saying "This is why you've been healthy scratched!"

At this point I'd be happy if the following guys are not back: Perron, Sprong, Gostisbehere, Petry, Holl, Reimer.

Fans want Copp bought out, but he's a defensive match-up player and he did a good job at that role this year. Is he worth the cap hit? Probably not. But they won't be hurting for space that much.

I very much doubt that Petry's going anywhere. He won't play anywhere else and I doubt they'd get a better veteran d-man for less than his 2.3. If they buy out Holl they'd be on the hook for 1.3 (vs. his current 3.4) for four total years (vs. his two remaining). I don't know if there's a buyer somewhere for him. Maybe if they'd had more defensive injuries, his presence would've been needed.

Gostisbehere has 50 points but he needs to be sheltered so much defensively (and is a massive liability when he's not, like in OT vs. the PNES) that it's not worth it. Is Edvinsson ready for PP duty? Probably not. I'd rather have Walman do that than bring back Ghost, though.

Reimer has been baffling because he's had stretches of solid play, then he'll give up an absolutely back-breaking goal, often in OT. I don't see the need to bring him back, but having a third goalie in the mix for next year would help, since I think Cossa needs another year in the minors.

Perron seems like a big part of the locker room so maybe he comes back on a team-friendly deal, but they need some size in the top six, and he takes way too many dumb penalties in the offensive zone.

Ideally:

DeBrincat / Larkin / Raymond
Kane / Compher / ???
Fischer / Copp / Rasmussen
Kasper / Veleno / Mazur
Berggren

Walman / Seider
Edvinsson / Petry
Maatta / Chiarot
Johansson

Lyon / Husso

I think Berggren's moved. Sprong gets a few years from a team desperate for depth scoring. Maybe Danielson makes it, more likely he does. One of Kasper / Mazur should be up, I'd love more youth in general.

Husso was going to start for Grand Rapids tonight but now Cossa is

Not sure if he got called up or reinjured himself

Who am I kidding, he hurt himself again
